Sigh. I always thought the best thing about our recent success is that we weren't going to spend any energy with frivolous bullshit statues and naming crap, we were just gonna collect titles. All that garbage is hype for fans to eat wholesale, I guess it has some meaning, somehow...

But I guess it could be worse, we could have some corporatized naming crap and we'd be playing at "Chick-Fil-A Chicken Field" (get it?)....

The only statue I thought was a good idea in Carolina stadium was after the first year we won, have a statue of the boy that died during the post-season, in the outfield facing in, so he could 'watch' carolina baseball for years to come.

I really would like some type of hall of honor or names ringing the stadium. It's nice to recognize those that have come before.

We're building a deep tradition in baseball I'd like to see us honor it (perhaps in a more subtle way...) in a visible way that recruits and visitors can see.

I do think it would be really neat to have a "Wall of Fame". There is already a start to this behind the trophy case where Sarge's plaque is. Bobbie, June, and Ray should definitely be there with their records. 3 coaches averaging 40 wins for 4 decades, that is impressive. Maybe a plaque for all the record holders. A plaque listing All Americans, Golden Spikes plaque for Kip, Player of the Year for Martz, College World Series MVPs and that kind of thing. We really have a lot of fans who only know the recent history of Gamecock baseball. We need to make sure they know Hank Small, Dave Hollins, Mookie, and our other greats that built the foundation for what we have right now. I bet there were plenty of fans in the stadium that had no idea who Hank Small was when his daughters threw out the first pitch last year and wondered why a former QB was out there with them.

I definitely don't have a problem with naming the bullpen. Roth was the face of one of the greatest runs in college baseball history on and off the field.

IDK, it's just weird because you don't think of the bullpen when you think of Roth. When I think of Roth I think Friday night, The town not to be named, and random rally antics. When I think of the bullpen, I think Matt Price and the theme song from The Price Is Right!
