Carerra runs around like he's lost. He has good hustle and motivation though.

I think Carrera is our best player. He can finish around the basket, rebound good, even sink the three if left open and has great hustle, of course.
I'd have to go with Brenton as being our best scorer. He's always pretty good with the threes, good free throw shooter, and this year, he has been good at driving the lane and finishing. He just finds ways to put the ball in the basket. He must have an awful attitude or just doesn't practice hard, because I don't see where he is any more of a defensive liability than any of the other guards. I can see why Leonard doesn't play more even though he's supposed to be a good shooter. It seems every time he's in the game, the other team is getting an easy basket/dunk. Is it on him? I'm not sure, but it is a strange coincidence. Eric has been struggling but to me Slawson is the worst player on the team right now. I don't think I've ever seen an athletic 6'8 guy that can't hit a 2 foot basket, make a layup, snatch down a board, or even hold on to a good pass. To me, Slawson just doesn't play aggressive at all. I'd like to see him play angry and see if that makes a defense.

I think Brenton is our most skilled offensive player, however he shoots from the hip, with sort of a set shot that makes him easy to block. His size isn't great either for a true 2 guard. He is limited on defense as well. It's just not a good situation for him on a team that does not spread the floor well. He's more of a Eddie House kind of player, good for an offense boost for about 15 minutes a game, but only useful on a team with good interior defense (a la House when he played for the Celtics). I'm OK with whatever Martin decides to do with him. He was never going to play pro ball anyway, so he might as well get down and dirty the Martin way and make the most of the time he's got left. Hopefully he's on track to get a decent degree. He seems like a nice person.

I've never liked Smith's game myself, but I've never knocked his effort. He's clearly a safety for a football team somewhere though. Anyone know if he played pigskin in hs?

All I know is that Williams can put the ball in the hoop and we need that, but I am also 100% behind coach Martin and think he will eventually build us a winner.

I think a lot of people are going to question what frank martin is going to do this offseason. But, I really think a roster overhaul is warranted. I only expect a couple of Horns players back next year...Ellington and probably Smith...and Geathers.

You got to get the teams mind right before anything else works and I think that is what Frank is trying to do. You have to understand his concept and philosophy of basketball and then go all out to do it. Learn Martin Basketball 101. He has been a winner, but only with better talent and with kids who do as instructed.
I remember when Pete Marivich was at LSU. Even without the 3 point shot and a time clock his career scoring average was 44 ppg, still the NCAA record. I mention that because as great as he was in scoring, his teams were not that good, as he was a one man team. Without getting the team involved, it is difficult to win. He wants players who are more vocal so that they talk to each other on defense, in particular, to help with switchoffs and screens and help on players driving to the basket. Stay the course. We have no other options, anyway.
