wow. I went to high school with his dad who I believe is also named Dexter. I'm friends with his mom on facebook. I thought I saw a post from her the other day that said he got a letter from Ole Miss. Never thought I'd see a D-1 football player come out of my little hometown.

Nah, I was referring to Ole Miss, as they'd cleaned up on the 5 stars this year and the suspicions of how they did that only increased when Hugh Freeze basically said "Gosh, I don't know about anything shady going on, but if anyone knows anything about that please tell me."

DL Dexter Wideman (6-4 275) of Saluda has not been to any junior days or visited any schools this spring, according to his coach Doug Painter, because he's focusing on his academics. And he has no visits planned right now though he's talked to LSU about a visit in 4-5 weeks. Wideman has offers from USC, Clemson, Michigan, Florida and Ole Miss. He's also hearing from Florida State and LSU. Both called this week. According to Painter, USC is out front for Wideman. "His family would like him to go to Carolina," Painter said. "For one thing, it's closer and they can get there easy. He's pretty close to his grandmother so he doesn't want to go too far away. But he still has an interest (in other schools) because he's never been away to football games to see what goes on and check out other campuses." Wideman has been to USC and Clemson for games, and he went to one day camps at Tennessee and Virginia Tech last year. "He's going to want to take the visits and see what's out there," Painter continued. "He's leaning towards the Gamecocks. He's not told me that, that's just my perception watching him around school."

Florida State offered DL Dexter Wideman of Saluda over the weekend according to his coach Doug Painter. Wideman also has offers from USC, Clemson, Michigan, Florida and Ole Miss. He has not made any visits for junior days thus far and does not have any visits scheduled. He has been favoring USC.

DL Dexter Wideman of Saluda has added Florida State and LSU to his offers from USC, Clemson, Ole Miss, Florida and Michigan. The recent offers have served as motivation for Wideman. "It's pretty exciting to tell you the truth," he said. "It makes me want to work even harder." Wideman remains is contact with Clemson and USC and is planning to attend the Gamecocks scrimmage Saturday. "They've been encouraging me to continue to work hard," said Wideman. "They want me to come up this Saturday so I'll be there." Clemson is also asking Wideman to stop by. "They want me to come up and I'm going to try really hard to make it," he said. Wideman will visit FSU during his spring break and looks forward to the trip. "I know they have a great program and I like the way they play," he said. "I can't wait to get down there." As for other visits Wideman said, "I'm going to try to visit as many schools as I can but that's not easy." He does not have any favorites and named signing day as the day he plans to announce his decision.

DL Dexter Wideman of Saluda was among the USC targets on hand for last Saturday's junior day, and he will be among the Clemson targets on hand for the Tigers' spring game this Saturday. "He wants his grandmother to go to both places," Saluda coach Doug Painter said. "He got to get a good feel (at USC), but he's not there yet, He's working on his grades so he can do what he wants to do. He's still pretty wide open. If I had to guess, I would say he's a closer to home guy. He wants to go (to visit) Florida and LSU and look. And Florida State, I think he wants to go look. It's just a matter of getting that done." Wideman has offers from USC, Clemson, Michigan, Florida, Ole Miss and Florida State.
