UNC game back on Thursday?

I would rather the season opener be a Thursday night game at 6pm than a Saturday night game at 8pm.

But, then again...I'm more concerned about what helps our team than what helps myself personally.

Playing a team that might be ranked in the top 40 on a Thursday afternoon helps us? Will it be because the East Upper stands will be about 50% (like they were for Ole Miss, UK and S. Miss)? Or will it be beacause the fans, you know the ones who the players feed off of, won't be able to enjoy a day building up their "liquid courage"?

Have you ever heard of PRIME TIME TELEVISION? Pretty sure Prime Time Saturday night game would be better for our team than Thursday afternoon when it won't even be dark until the 4th quarter. That prime time thing kinda worked out for us against UGA... But yeah 6pm really helps the team!!!! Those 2 extra days off, where we won't be practing anyways makes a HUGE difference.

I don't know if you realize this- but week 2, we play SEC Eastern division rival UGA.

Having a few extra days most definitely helps us.

Oh, and UGA has a difficult test week 1, but without the extra days.

this is what gets me... most people who complain about game times arent concerned about the game actually being earlier they are more concerned they cant tailgate enough... listen i love tailgating ...i love kicking back and having a few drinks but seriously the people who complain they wont have enough drinking time have their priorities mixed up... you can be loud, crazy and obnoixous with out being drunk off you a** ... its not that hard

Some fans just don't get it..

First, it gives us extra days to rest and prepare for UGA

Second, do you not realize that we will be the college football opener and only big game on TV that night.. we will be talked about for the next few days, rather than sharing the spotlight with the Sat games.

I care what is best for the team, what will help us best to win the SEC East. Our fans will be pumped and travel no matter what, it's not like the stadium will be empty..

The players feed off us fans, but if they need that extra motivation first game of the season, than this season could be trouble.

We will win either way, I care more about the extra rest and prep time for UGA than my own or other fans' personal travel issues.

And last, yes we used to do the Thurs night opener games early in HBC's tenure to build exposure etc, but why not have your big time dominant team (with the Heisman hopeful) showcased as the first game of the season? We aren't Louisville circa late 90's/early 2000's, this isn't some "gimmick". I love it, keep Clowney as the news from Day 1 to the end.

Every time we get a noon kick you can't sift through the complaining about not being able to tailgate to find the actual kickoff time. "Aw we can't tailgate", "I hate noon games", "Im not going". I mean really people? You don't show up for noon games because you are hungover and are too lazy to roll out of bed? And most are students that complain. You're like 1 mile from the stadium. The student section is half empty for noon games. The rest of the stadium is full. We have to drive from all around the state.

Have people looked at our noon record under Spurrier? We are 21-3 when playing a game at noon or earlier. And 2 of the 3 losses came against Arkansas and Clemson in 08 and 09 on the road (One was actually an 11 AM kick). So they've worked out pretty well for us.

Most of the people I have talked to complain about the heat. The tailgating stuff is secondary to the that. Most people I know I have no problem tailgating after a noon game, considering you are going to be in traffic anyway if you jump right in the car the second the game is over. Do not listen to students, they should not be representing this fanbase because they have been terrible of late and that cannot be denied.

Noon games are pain for me from a travel standpoint -- I work nights, so getting up early to hit the road is tough. However, I like that you don't have to wait around all day for the game to start, and after it's over, you can do whatever else you'd want to do on a Saturday without time constraints. The heat is really the only true downside, IMO.

I am against the start time and the Thursday date. I only come around here every now and again, but have had an extensive convo on another site complaining about this. We have done this Thursday game 7 of the last 9 years, with the only other two games against UL-whoever and east Carolina on fox sports net. During those years, clemPson has had two games in Atlanta against bama and auburn, plus this year against uga, bama has played va tech and Michigan, lsu has played Oregon and socal twice and uncarolina once in Atlanta(mind you this game is why we are playing them this year as espn gave us so miss on Thursday so unc could go to atl), uga /boise st., and more. These Thursday games are for the likes of vandy, cincy, texas techs and wake forests of the world. Saturdays are for the big boys and we're never invited and it p!sses me off. No end in sight though, we get ecu in charlotte again next year and then at their stadium the next year along with ucf repaying us with the pleasure of their presence in our stadium.

Not even mentioning the fact that here in phoenix, we'll all still be at work when the game starts, and the people in Nashville and oxford wont be watching b/c they'll be tailgating.
