Placement. The ball was thrown (distance wise) as good as any of the
three QBs that are expected to make the playing roster from this spring
(Dylan, Brendon and Connor Mitch). The balls were just way too far behind
the WR, or way out of reach. .... Mitch and Thompson missed a few
deep balls as well but they were within reach of the WR and were either
dropped or knocked down by the defenders

Spurt,

Did Mitch's release look quicker than the average release? Because watching his high school highlights it looked to me he has a very very quick arm (throwing motion)

I don't know why anyone would be surprised by Rainey at LB. Most of his offers, including one from Bama was for that position. Ironically, he chose us in part because we recruited him as a receiver

I saw 1 on 1's with LB's covering TE's and RB's. Wilds was almost 100% getting open and catching. Davis is a comptetitor, and hates being grabbed. They could not cover Salley. Busta is a good route runner. Adams is too fast and tall for the LB's to cover, but seems to have more speed than cutting. The Qb's in that group threw rather poorly to open receivers. Hands looked good overall.

We were the best school to offer him as a TE. All others offered him as a LB. He was rated a 4 star as a LB and they dropped him to 3 stars when he said he wouldn't play LB.

After Tuesday's practice while speaking to reporters, SOS said he thought Shamir had turned the corner and he was very impressed with his winter workouts and his improved pass catching and route running......hoping for big things from him this year.

Quarles was a vocal leader during the defensive line drills. I'm surprised not to see his name even mentioned, since its something many others noticed during practice.

Kelvin Rainey had another interception to end practice.

Shaq Roland had a very impressive catch near the end of practice.

Jeffrey had another good day at practice.

I don't think it'll really matter what it looks like now because Spurrier and Mangus will change his mechanics. All of our QBs pretty much have the same throwing motion after 2 years in the system anyway.

Good Point
IMO...Nosovitch looked like his release was the fastest of all the QBs right
now, but to me, it's not a big issue if he has a quicker release at this point.
Dylan Thompson didn't look that great in many areas as a true Freshman
(release, footwork, timing etc...), but there's no doubt now that he developed
with Spurrier and Mangus working with him and he's THE MAN at
present. Spurrier made the comment that Mitch would be a kid that
would not need a lot of tutoring with his basics once he got to camp.

I know a lot of fans (and the "experts") are concerned about the Gamecocks
recent success continuing and the reason is basically because of the talent
and numbers we lost on Defense this past season.... I am not as concerned
about it because we had some very talented young guys behind our
starters and we redshirted some guys that are going to make a big impact
when they do get on the field this year. I too think our defense isn't going
to be an issue this year. I think they'll grow into it as the season goes, and
do an exceptional job. I really like the defensive coaching staff with
Zo Ward. I think the fans will be very surprised at how well the defense
plays this season.

Hey, Spurt, big thanks for the write up from a diehard fan in GA. One question, how does the defense look this spring compared to last spring with 2 practices? I know without pads it is tough to make a solid determination, but I am really just wanting to know if you feel they are on par athletically.
