Yeah I really hope Venters stays. The movement he gets on his fastballs at 95+ MPH is a thing of beatuy. Here's to hoping it is just a rumor.

Ken Rosenthal just said we will listen. so maybe its just listening and nothing more. hopefully, they are not so worried about a having a LH bench bat that they would trade venters or maybe management has some fear about his health. I just don't see a bench bat helping this team more than venters, but I'm not running a baseball team. so maybe I dont know shit.

Julio Teheran looks like he's ready to be a big leaguer. He's been nasty.

Through his first 9 innings this spring, his line is 9 IP 2 ER 4 H 12 K

When Beachy comes back, it may be Paul Maholm or Mike Minor with no spot in the rotation. I'm ready to see him in meaningful starts for us consistently. What's been so amazing is through the Maholm/Johnson, Bourn, and Upton trades, Frank Wren has held on to Teheran.

I'm not going to bet the farrm on 9 innings of work, especially during spring training when pitchers don't make it through the lineup more than twice. However, I have been very ahppy with teheran. It was great to see him get out of the third today when he ran into trouble. Sometimes with young pitchers the first run across is like the first piss after a six pack of beer...the seal is broken.

Juan cons: Tough time against lefties, can't hit breaking balls, average and OBP is low.

Johnson pros: Good average. Really good power. More consistent bat. Can actually hit righties and lefties pretty well.

I was able to watch the game on Comcast tonight (why I get Comcast in my room but not the Golf Channel or MLB network is beyond me)

Teheran looked great. He's velocity on the fastball was 91-93, but he was spotting it. He was also mixing in a newer 2 seamer that was 87-89 with great movement. He backed one up on a left for a strikeout, Maddux style. The 2 seam may have been his best pitch. His curve was of and on as far as command goes, but when he threw it good, it was filthy. I'll take the inconsistency considering its his third pitch. The one he threw in the first inning for a K was Tommy Hanson like. Can't really say anything about his changeup that hasn't already been said. It's by far his best pitch, he plays it perfectly off the fastball. The kid reminds me alot of Pedro (somehow I threw 3 pitcher comparisons in here, just pay attention to this last one lol).

The only issue was when he allowed some baserunners in the fourth you could tell his composure dropped some, but he got out of it only allowing one. He'll face his struggles, still very raw from a second time through the order point of view, but overall showed some great signs. He's definitely to the point that he has to be thrown into the water in order to learn how to swim. Growing pains set aside, we may have a Michael Phelps (jeez I'm comparison happy).

You are welcome to that opinion, just passing the info along. I have personally found him to be reliable. If you trust it more , Mark Bowman and David O'Brien say the exact same thing in regard to a potential Venter's trade.

He's gotten less work in the WBC than he would in spring. They have contracts and pitch counts built into this thing
