He is leaving because Kelly is an idiot and has fallen in love with Golson, who sucks. I don't really get the hate for Kiel, he is just leaving before he waste another year or two sitting behind a QB the coach is in love with.

Plus, didn't they just sign some stud QB last class? Doubt Kiel would get above him

The way he handled his recruiting was a joke and that's why a lot of people don't like him

He was a douchebag during his recruitment. The decommiting from IU to LSU was fine but he was committed to LSU and just showed up as an early enrollee at ND.

Personally, I'm not the least bit scared of the guy, but I also think it's a tad premature to call him "the defininition of overrated." He hasn't taken a college snap yet. He redshirted as a freshman behind a more experienced player, and he was facing a situation in which he was just one class behind an established starter (that the coach does seem to be infatuated with, as one poster mentioned). None of that means that Kiel sucks, and I can't really blame him for transferring, to be honest, considering all of the other opportunities out there.

It hasn't been mentioned in this thread, so for those who are unaware, Kiel was the #1 rated QB in the country in high school, so if he never starts anywhere...or if he sucks when he does...yes, he could then rightfully be called "the definition of overrated." At this point, the jury is still out.
