I don't know who's better. But if he comes to Carolina, he must think he's better than Mitch. I doubt he would be willing to sit for 3 years waiting for Mitch to graduate before he starts.

Let me throw out this scenario. Shaw and Thompson get 95% of the snaps in 2013 assuming no injuries and Mitch redshirts. I don't think anyone will argue with that. Then Barker comes in for 2014, that gives us Thompson (sr), Mitch (rs fr), Nosovitch (rs soph) and Barker. If Nosovitch doesn't start, he leaves because it's his 3rd year. Thompson starts and gets most of the snaps, but Mitch plays a fair amount.....or Mitch starts and gets most of the snaps. Then 2015, if Barker doesn't start, he leaves. If Barker starts, then Mitch leaves. There's no way they both stay at Carolina while one of them is sitting the bench. I know there could be injuries, but forget that for this example. Where do I have this wrong.

Don't really agree. There are plenty of four star qbs that ate behind others

Dylan/Connor play in 2013

Dylan will be the starter in 2014.

Barker would enroll for the 2014 season, redshirt, and be involved in an open competition with Nos and Mitch for the 2015 season.

Any kid that is a competitor is not going to be scared off by a kid in front of him that hasn't taken a meaningful snap yet.

I basically said the same through 2014 but I'm assuming Thompson #1 and Mitch #2. Then 2015, whoever gets the start, Mitch or Barker, I don't think the other hangs around afterwards. I agree about the competitor issue. I just believe whoever is #2 after 2015, he leaves.

We can all speculate, and it's fun to do, but there is absolutely no telling who would win a Nosovitch, Mitch, Barker battle down the road. All 3 have tremendous potential. And even if Barker didn't win that battle, he'd have another shot later on as the youngest of the 3. There's no reason for our depth chart to bother him.

Hell, if the recruiting site rankings were gospel (and I'm definitely not saying they are), Barker...having the most elite high school rank of the 3 according to Scout, Rivals, 247, etcetera...would be our starter in '15 (after presumably redshirting in '14). The kid has no reason to be scared off.

Scout now has Barker ranked as the #4 quarterback in the nation (up from #5). That site loves this kid. They don't separate by pro-style/dual threat. He's #4, period.
