Also did some work in the northeast. But he was definitely not involved in the Spain recruitment, though that would have been nice.

The final player in the Rivals100 from the state is 6-foot-6, 285-pound offensive tackle Bentley Spain of Charlotte (N.C.) Providence, who is ranked No. 86.

He has a top six of South Carolina, North Carolina, Stanford, Virginia, LSU and Michigan, but has spent a lot of time with the staff in Columbia, S.C.

The relationship with Gamecocks offensive line coach Shawn Elliott might be a difference-maker.

"I have a great relationship with him," Spain said. "We have been talking since my freshman year when he offered me. We have built a great relationship."

Stanley is very likely an OG in college and Spain an OT.

Spain is also coming off a leg injury that cost him most, if not all of the 2012 season.

Spain's injury isn't anything to worry about long term is it.

I don't remember what his specific leg injury was. I don't think that it is something that will have an impact on him long term. I want to say it was torn ligaments in his knee but I'm being lazy right now and not looking it up

Spain said the fact that Elliot stayed really meant a lot to him and that it showed him that Elliot was committed to winning championships at USC. Don't know about Stanley.

They are Elliot's top two targets...both mention their relationship with Elliot as the reason they are so high on SC

USC continues to be a strong player with OL Bentley Spain of Charlotte according to his coach Randy Long. "He has a high interest in South Carolina," Long said. "It's one of his top schools. He's had an opportunity to form a relationship with the coaches there, especially Shawn Elliott. He wants to make his decision in the next three months if he can." Spain has taken several visits to USC which was the first school to offer him. He has a short list of USC, North Carolina, LSU, Michigan, Stanford and Virginia with no leader according to Long.
