Scoreless soccer is only fun for those soccer nuts that love defensive styles and know a lot about tactics.

I'm a soccer nut but I am honest at the same time, the more goals the more exciting, that doesn't mean an scoreless game cant be exciting, a game can be very exciting without goals, but is more exciting with a lot of goals.

I used to play a lot of street hockey in California, scoring is easier, there is a lot more contact and there is less players which means there is a lot more action on the field.

The "communist" crap soccer haters throw is just pure ignorance, Capitalism was invented in England, the same country that invented soccer and is obsessed with it, the most sophisticated and riches countries in the world are obsessed with soccer, except for the USA. The USA at one point was just anti-European for some reason.

For the most part, I think those are the only legit arguments for soccer haters.

1. Too much running
2. Too hard to score

As far as physicality, I am willing to bet that Basketball isn't as physical as soccer.

Baseball is a no a contact sport, yep Americans still love it.

Soccer is not more physical than basketball. You continue this line but it is untrue. Anyone who watches the two sports can see easily that it isn't true. Also knowing people who have played both they'd say it isn't true. Rebounding alone involves more contact than the majority of a soccer game.

I don't have statistics but eventually I will look for it, there should be more contact in soccer than in basketball, more injuries, worse injuries.

A sport doesn't have to be physical to be good, but the argument soccer isnt "physical" enough is another ignorant point.

People's argument about soccer physicality is the drama queen aspect, more than the lack of hitting. Also if you watch a basketball game, there is constant physical pushing on one another. Soccer doesn't have this, since the majority of the game is spent in more open feel setting. Basically a soccer corner kick is the most physical the game gets, which is how the majority is the minimum of the physicality during the majority of a basketball game.

Injuries don't make a sport more physical. If that was the case, things like Nascar would be most physical, since people die in their sport more regularly.

I agree with this. I don't have a problem if the game ends 2-1 or 1-0 but if there are only a couple shots in the entire game then you're just watching guys run around and kick a ball. More shots = more excitement. I have no idea how you produce more shots though.

Hockey games routinely end with a team only scoring twice but having 30+ shots on goal.

Two best ways is either get rid of or modify the offside rule and change the subbing format. This would stretch the field and create more fresh legs on the field and strategy.

there my be more "pushing" in basketball, but there is def more hits in soccer, and harder hits as well.

you see blood, broken bones and more collisions in soccer simply because the game is faster.

I agree about changing the offside rule in soccer. That would open up scoring a good bit.

And I think it's funny how some call soccer boaring because its just a bunch of guy kicking a ball around and scoring occasionally. But they sit down and watch a baseball game where it's just a bunch of guys standing and throwing a ball back and forth.

Too each their own. I got nothing against baseball. But just using it as an example.

Getting rid of offsides altogether would make soccer a gongshow. They need to add a horizontal line or two across the field around the final thirds of the field to make offsides work more like hockey if they want to change anything. Or allow players to be offsides (be behind defenders before the ball is played by a teammate) as long as they are in front of the new offsides lines (by in front, I mean closer towards the center line). If you are behind the offsides line (closer to the goal line) then regular offsides will still apply.

Otherwise you'd see floaters way down in the opponents end and defenders/midfielders hitting long balls all game since they wouldn't have to worry about offsides traps.

this is simple logic, soccer players are smaller, on average they will be faster.

the soccer field is bigger, more space to run, more speed, harder the hit.

again, this is simple logic.

the harder thing I can see in basketball is being pushed while you are jumping... this wont even be that hard, only if you hit the floor.

an occasionall hit on the face with the arm... other than that, basketball is just pushing a little in the rebounds, and again, I enjoy playing basketball but I honestly think soccer is more physical, or in better words, soccer players take harder hits than basketball players.

one last point. from what I have seen on tv, most of the foul calls on nba will never be foul on soccer, that is just how I see it.

I think that when they came out with the offside rule, at the moment it was giving more scoring opportunities... then teams became more defensive, but it took time for that to happen.

teams used to play with 5 or 6 strikers 60 years ago, now most English teams only play with 1 striker.

south americans still for the most part play with 2 strikers and 1 attacking mid.

Kaka, that's not right.

Sports science did a study that hockey players hits are the hardest and their rink is not as large as a football field or soccer field.

Just because the rink/court/field is larger doesn't mean the hits are harder

come bro, you are better than this.

you can get a lot of speed with skates, of course the hits will be harder.

I know that but your logic is a bit flawed.

Just because a bigger field/court/rink doesn't mean harder hits.

Ever watched a playoff hockey game? Most passion, hustle, determination, etc. you will see in a sports game. Give it a try, playoffs start in April/May time.

I enjoy watching soccer, but some of those guys live up the name of "grass fairies". I could easily find a compilation on youtube of bullshit flops and guys absolutely taking a fall from nothing more than being touched or breathed on. I think that turns people off immediately who are trying to give soccer a chance who favor other sports such as basketball and football.

Also, soccer players are not nearly as tough as hockey or football players. Yes I know it hurts bad to get tripped up going full speed, or getting kicked in the shin, or whatever, but players from the sports I just mentioned take much harder hits from much bigger individuals.

Those aren't played within a certain time amount though. Soccer you get two 45' halfs + stoppage time which is completely at the discretion of the referee. That is what Floyd was getting at.
