QB Elijah Staley (6-6 205) of Marietta, GA named Miami, Florida State, Georgetown, Georgia, Georgia Tech and Auburn as some of his offers with USC showing interest. "I've heard from South Carolina," said Staley. "I think they are close to offering. They really like my game and think I would fit well in their system." As for his interest in the Gamecocks, Staley said, "I"m kind of interested. I haven't visited but I might." His visits thus far were to Georgia, Georgia Tech, Alabama, Florida and Vanderbilt. "I liked them all," he said. "I love the campuses, the coaches and the atmospheres." Staley does not have a time frame for a commitment and is in no hurry to narrow his list. He did not name a leader.
A day later, three-star dual-threat quarterback Elijah Staley of Marietta (Ga.) Wheeler announced he had parted ways with Vanderbilt. With Staley, it sounds like the decision was mutual, and was centered around the fact he wants to play football and basketball in college.
In his recruitment, Mississippi State now might be the team to beat. In Starkville, Staley would have the opportunity to play both sports. In fact, the Bulldogs offered him in basketball before they offered in football.
