Yes, but Mike had his chances last year and didn't really capitalize.

He needs to step his game up if he wants to play more.

Mike played well last year. Hard to say he didn't capitalize when he really only got secondary touches, even after Latti got hurt. I was very impressed with what I saw from him.

Easy to say that about any younger player...most are not ready their first or even 2nd year...we're going to be comparing all of them to Marcus for a while. Marcus came in as ready as anybody we've ever had...neither Brandon or Mike Davis were on Marcus' level as TR FR and Kenny Miles RS'd his FR year. Kenny developed as blocker over time...Mike and Brandon will have to as well....I expect both to step up.

This has a long ways to go, but I do think one of them will emerge as a favorite in goal line situations...

I was more impressed by Wilds than by Davis, on back to back years after ML went down. Both should be able to contribute this year though.

This! I dont get why everyone loves davis so much. Wilds carried the team on his back as a true freshman and dont forget where he got his first start at....that place is not that easy to play at.

I like davis too and hope he turns out to be a beast but I was really impressed with wilds running. He runs like latti.. He has the forward lean and great vision. I know he needed a little work with his hands and maybe blocking but dont forget he was a true freshman that had to start for the number one running back in the country in the middle of a hard ass SEC schedule.

The few times I saw davis play he missed blocks and gained very little yards except against lessor talent. Not saying he isnt going to be good but he looked way behind wilds when compairing them to each other as a true freshman.

Let's not forget about Shon Carson either. I think all 3 are capable backs. Hopefully after a few games we'll see that all 3 will get their time and be successful.

Whenever I see Byrd run it's usually right into the arms of a DB or LB in the backfield.

The little bit I saw of Salley at the second spring practice looked good. The linebackers could not cover him in the one-on-ones - his cuts were sharp and quick. He lacks top speed, but is said to have good power and a nasty yen for contact. When they pressed Salley and got their hands on him he just broke away and caught every ball with enough space to turn upfield.

Give them both the rock and let them do their thing! Wear down the defense with the talented back we have.

Davis had a few fumbles that led to reduced playing time. I think Davis had a good introduction to to bigtime football in his freshman year. He wasn't thrown to the lions. He didn't stand out but he was a contributer. I think he can learn better ball handling and come in confident this fall. I don't see him as a feature back now.

Wilds is already proven, I think he'll probably get most of the carries/snaps. He's probably our best all around back. He can catch it out of the backfield and block. His measurables remind me of a Darren McFadden or Adrian Peterson. Hopefully he can ball out like those two.

Davis lost a whopping 1 fumble - in the Wofford game. So your post is a real head scratcher...
