I love the fact that we're opening the season with an opportunity to put a whipping on those high Heels. We need to own the entire state of North Carolina for recruiting, even if it means a bit of tar in our feathers!

Playing an away game in Charlotte every year isn't gonna do squat for our recruiting in NC. Those kids seeing us on TV 6-8 times a year gives us the exposure we need. Just sell 'em on playing for a winner in the SEC close to home, and we'll get the few we want to SUPPLEMENT the guys from SC and GA.
Pick up a couple from FL and several from the NE and we've got what we need. Yancey's post was dead on. |

If we want to expose ourselves to recruits in NC, it wouldn't make a huge difference if the game was in Charlotte. Just about every game is on TV. This includes home games, which is something you would want recruits to see, IMO.
Just out of curiosity... what was the atmosphere like at BOA when we played ECU in 2011? |

I would love this! We should try and play a neutral site game in either Atlanta or Charlotte every year. All you ACC old timers need to get over yourselves, the past is past. I do believe Spurrier himself said he would LOVE to play this game every year. I'll take Spurrier's word on whats best for our program.

If we old time ACC haters got over ourselves, we would still be in the ACC and our sports program would be in a far worse condition than it is now, in terms of success, facilities, media attention, finances, recruiting, and prestige.
Never help an enemy because they look upon it as weakness and use it against you, time and time, again.

No. They owe us a game in Columbia. Simple as that. They escaped the game in 2010. So until they play us here, we aren't playing them on a neutral field

This could be a moot discussion. They may not want to play us again when Clowney & Co. are done with them.

No. Just no.

I would imagine SOS's opinion might be different now.
This idea was probably in hopes to replace what he was use to with the old UF- UGA series at a neutral site each year, "The World's Largest Cocktail Party". Trouble is, times have changed since his last time at that game. They don't even use that nickname any longer and try to downplay that aspect. UF easily filled their part of their stadium as it was SEC football and it was played in the state of Florida. Even so, that game was between to SEC teams and two rabid fan bases, a football atmosphere, in the heart of football country, and a conference game meaning more, to boot. Charlotte is in NC and that still is basketball first in that state. The game would have one ACC team in it and their fans aren't as rabid as SEC fans. They don't even know how to tailgate. There would be nothing on the line except bragging rights and we already play Clempson each year for that, as rivals and foes from different conferences. With the economy being down, it is more difficult to fill up W-B, of all places, unless it is a game of real magnitude. We aren't going to fill up half of the Charlotte Stadium. UNC sure as heck won't even being in their state. Trying to force start a rivalry isn't going to work. That one ended the day we left the ACC. Dead and long buried, where it belongs.

![]() When Frank gets rolling it will be huge for his program in my opinion, I enjoyed going to Charlotte and watching us play in the Pepsi challenge back in the 90's. I understand the hardline against the ACC but sometimes you have to let it go, forgive, forget, move on and get some closure, let us hold a contest every year to either fuel the fire or give some closure or not...just seems like a fun game every 3 years as well as a natural rivalry considering the history, your grandkids, kids will love it! |

I remember the team BJ took to battle Antwan Jamison and company in Charlotte, it was a very heated atmosphere for a non rivalry. Everyone I talked to said the game in n. car back in '07 was a good atmosphere, loves Spurrier's quote "Felt like I was coaching for the Dukies and the South Carolina people", Spurrier has never lost to n. car. |

I'd rather play North Carolina every year in basketball once Frank gets this program rolling. It'd be awesome to have a sort of North Carolina/South Carolina Shootout type contest at the Charlotte Bobcats Arena. Invite a couple other teams and call it a tournament.
Football...I don't like losing a home game. I've never like regular season neutral site matchups. I don't mind playing UNC in football...I just don't want to make it a neutral site affair.

It really would be a neutral field initially....both teams would get an equal amount of tickets with some going to businesses like a bowl game. They have a lot of fans up there but if I recall correctly the Gamecock Club up there (York County/Charlotte) is the largest one. There are a ton of gamecocks in the Rock Hill/Fort Mill area and that is a quick drive from the stadium.
