Welcome to the board.... You will find that here, Starkville, Oxford and Baton Rouge, baseball is more popular than basketball....
Sure, if we were even worth mentioning in basketball, that might be different...but baseball has always been big here.... Best of luck to you guys....

Welcome to our board MizzouAstro. Please consider making yourself a
regular poster here. We love having rival fans stay with us and become regular members here. I think Missouri and Texas A&M came into the SEC with the right mindset. I read where both ADs for each school have said that they plan on putting a lot of priority into upgrading the facilities the next several seasons. SC Joined the conference in 1991 and did not get into that mindset for almost a decade. IMO, it is why this program suffered the way it did the first 10-12 years in all sports in this conference. Beginning in early 2000s, our ADs decided to raise ticket prices for football, utilize the Conference income and used that mainly to go find the best coaches and put the money back into upgrading the athletic facilities. Since doing that, our Baseball team has become a perennial contender for the National title, and our football program, long time lower tier team in the SEC, started to compete for the Eastern Conference title, and the past three seasons has ended the year ranked in the top 20/10. .... You have to spend the money to make the money and attract the best players. As for Baseball, the Midwest has always developed some of the nations best college and eventual pro players. Mizzou joining the SEC is only going to make your program a much more desirable destination for those players who don't go immediately into MLB, but decide to develop a few years at the college level, and want to play for a team in the best College Baseball conf. in the country. Mizzou's baseball program will get stronger fast. I'm convinced of that. Thanks for joining and adding your insight into Missouri's program. Looking forward to your posts in the future. If you need any help around the site please feel free to give me or any of the other mods a shout. ... as you've already found out, there are also a lot of our fans eager to share their help as well.

Well, after game 1 I got a lot of respect for Mizzou.
As I thought, they got talent, they just don't have depth. And looking at the numbers, I thought an error would change the game...and two did. I got a feeling Mizzou is going to get back to being a tournament team in a few years if they can just improve talent depth on the team.

Welcome to the board!
I have no doubt Mizzou and A&M will do fine here. As mentioned a couple of posts up, we were a few errors from losing the series. |

In my best Jimmy Dugan....
"Is that a pep band? THERE'S NO PEP BAND IN BASEBALL!" Photographic proof at another site, and I actually saw them on the video feed Saturday. |
