Have you thought for one minute what it would do for the level of play in college football if the players were eligible for the NFL out of HS? It wouldn't be nearly as exciting as it is now.
You notice I used baseball as the example and typed college athletics, this includes a broad range of sports besides football and basketball. Having said that even college football as well as basketball are 10X purer than there professional counterparts, you do not see a walk on in either the NBA or NFL. Not all players in division 1 have illusions of playing pro ball since the number of scholarships given out on any given year dwarfs the roster spots available for the NFL or NBA. To say all cheat is a very broad statement, all test the boundaries but not all outright cheat.
If they do all outright cheat then it is time for some change and to stop letting the pink elephant sit in the corner unnoticed lol
College football would be just as exciting, I think everyone agrees that not many players are ready for the NFL out of high school though many would leave in 2nd or 3rd year. You would still pull for the GAMECOCK football and it would still be very exciting. You still pull for the baseball team, the baseball team is still talented and very exciting. No matter what winning will bring fans and we would still have plenty of stars to pull for, if you were to thank about some of the greatest players in college football history did not succeed at pro ball.

There are 0 roster spots for a 3 year project.

You're saying a 17 yr. old HS Sr would have made an NFL roster at DE? He would have gotten abused and sent to the practice squad at best. Did he start at UF his FR year? Make All-SEC as a TR FR?

I said in year 3 he would be a beast at DE, that is a 2 year "project" if that is what you would like to call playing on special teams. Many teams would pay top dollar for projects if kids could go out of high school, you can take that to the bank!
I have no idea if he would have or could have made an NFL roster because it is not possible at the present, heck he was not drafted until the 2nd round after 3 years in college.

Name one team that has ever paid top dollar for a 2 year project. Hard salary cap. You have no clue what you're talking about.

You do not know how to read, I said "if they could draft high school kids" and top dollar is my way of saying draft a kid out of high school. In the spirit of the thread if the 49ers had drafted Culliver out of high school they would have got a very similar player then they drafted 3 years later.

They would not draft high school kids that were projects. Maybe a free agent contract with no guaranteed money. The salary cap and relatively small roster size makes it prohibitive to pay any significant amount of money to someone who will not contributed beyond a few special team snaps.

Your right they do not pay QB's who never play, Jimmy Clausen did not play one snap last year and they pay injured players all the time who do not contribute a thing. The game would change if high school kids were in the equation once one of them was successful, the owners could not help themselves. They would have drafted Clowney, I would bet you money a few NFL scouts have looked at Max Browne and would draft him if available just on potential. Willis McGhee was a 1 year project picked with the 23rd pick, the packers took BJ Coleman and the colts Chandler Harnish in the 7th round to be the practice squad QB's. I cold list more but I do not see a need, just look at the NBA when high school players were eligible for the draft. They draft folks form small colleges all the time, I have played a few small colleges that high school teams could play with and beat. I have also seen kids that are 19 in prep school, do not get all hung up in age, if you are good you are good, if you are ready you are ready and playing with better competition will only make you better if you have the drive!
