Go look at some of the UNC boards, and their feelings towards us. They are saying that it would be a one way rivalry, since they don't care about us. Whatever.

I think we could play a school that would be a lot more fun, whose fans would be a lot more respectful (Michigan, Iowa, etc) and we would get more out of it.

Just not much of a win here for us at all.

OK. You guys have talked me into it. Let's screw Cola out of a home game and go help the business guys up in Charlotte pad their pockets every year.

I just can't wait to open our season every year to 20-25,000 empty seats at BOA. That will really impress all those recruits we're after. They'll wet themselves with excitement when they see all those empty seats they can play in front of in the SEC, and the atmosphere will be great.

Let's all go drop our hard-earned $$ in NC. After all, what has Cola ever done for us? Home?? Man, we can live anywhere.

Now, who said you couldn't teach an old dog new tricks? If I leave my brain at home, I can be just as dense as ___(fill in the blank). LOL.

Please God, no. That ECU game didn't even feel like an actual game. It felt like an exhibition. UNC has already backed out of playing in Columbia once.

UNC can't even fill their 62, 980 seat Kenan Stadium. Why would they help fill Charlotte's? Gas is high, and the game will be televised.

Don't downplay the significance of Charlotte. It has the most alumni of any metro area outside of the state of South Carolina, and a lot of good recruits come from here. North Carolina may be a basketball state, but Charlotte is an NFL city. We would fill our half of BofA easily. We packed the ECU game in 2011 and they weren't even considered a good team. North Carolina usually has a reasonably competitive team, so that match up would not be as lopsided as you think.

I think an annual game is probably unrealistic, but playing North Carolina every 2-3 years could work. Don't believe everything you read on message boards. The Tar Heels would love to have the chance to beat us on a regular basis. They just have an elitist attitude and downplay the significance of everything that isn't UNC-Duke basketball.

That said, I also think that No.Car. will avoid the idea for the most part since they have enough trouble with their rigorous ACC schedule.

Since we do not do that for away games or bowl games or SEC tourney games and half the people who fill Williams Brice do not drive an hour for the game and back when it is over.
That is exactly what I was thinking of the town that raised me for 35 years when I wrote that, screw Columbia. I love Columbia and the GAMECOCKS, if I thought for one minute what you wrote above was even close to true my opinion would change but it is not! Stay in SC if you feel this way, it is a 10 minute drive to the stadium, get your ticket through the GAMECOCK club and pack your lunch now you have screwed those folks from Charlotte?

Or you could do like me. Jump in your vehicle, drive 100+ to Willy B, tailgate, visit kin/friends, watch the game, drop some $$ in Cola and go home the next day.

I never knew that the hatred for the ACC was so strong, as I too am too young to know anything about USC leaving the ACC, mistreatment by the conference and the backstabbing from Clemson. With that being said, with money and politics aside, isn't the best revenge whooping Clemson every year on the gridiron and in recruiting? And, if we have a chance to do the same to UNC or NC State more than once a decade, not a great revenge as well? Maybe thats just me being a competitive person, but when someone has beaten me multiple times or has "backstabbed" me, I'd love nothing more then to kick their a$$ on the gridiron, or any sports arena for that matter...

The whole wining recruits over a game against NC is bull crap. Kids in NC know we are a better team then them anyway. They mostly choose to stay in North Carolina just because it's North Carolina. Jordan did a lot for that state.

arkus21, don't make the mistake of thinking you're more competitive than we are.

Playing a B-ball centric U in a B-ball centric conference on their home turf in front of a half-empty stadium every year doesn't make sense to me.

Since we're in the SEC now no thanks to Tobacco Road, IMO the best revenge is to ignore them and watch them wither and die on the vine they poisoned.

If you want a great non-conference rivalry game to open the season that will help us with recruiting, we should give Va Tech or FSU a call.

TV guys would love either of those match-ups, and we recruit both the NE Seaboard and South GA/North FL areas. JMO.

We play florida already but would love a va tech or w vir on the schedule, but with no history to us, no anger, nothing that makes a rivalry they are not even close to a North v South attraction, IMO. The recruiting advantage IMO is only if the game becomes a tradition, a true rivalry to the nation to start college football and I think it has the makings of just that.
I do not think you could have a problem with a half empty stadium for a Gamecock v tarheel game to start the college football season in Charlotte, Gamecock fans would have no problem buying the 78,000 tickets if available to us IMO. It just seems like a cash cow sitting in the corner to me.

I have no problem with beating up on the SEC, creating great rivalries for the future while ignoring the nc acc teams and see how you would think that is the way forward for South Carolina based on past history.

Chapel Hell fans are the most collectively disrespectful of any fan base with which I have come into contact. It does not matter how many times we beat them, they will continue to be disdainful of us. Disdain is simply their thing. So, let's beat them like dogs once and never call em again, because the last thing I want them to have is a LEGITIMATE argument for their own supremacy.

I say that USC old timers need to get over themselves. If this game comes to pass, that means Spurrier and Tanner have thought enough of it to give it a try. If its good enough for Steve and Ray, its good enough for everybody. Everybody knows we play UNC at home, after that we should try and play UNC or NC St. every year in football.

I would rather see us play Fla State in Atlanta than this. But that's my opinion.

I would love to see a East West game, USC vs uscheat so we could send Kiffen packing and take the name USC. I'm not one to hold grudges, I tend to walk up to the person running there mouth and call that bluf. Has gotten me in a lot of trouble and a few bruises but never liked a bully and always loved the underdog, Go GAMECOCKS! An SEC conference schedule with OOC games with clemsuk, uscheat and the tarholes would be a great way to win the national title while pimp slaping some bullies and backstabbers.

The only way that would work is if the City of Charlotte paid the USC Athletic Department about $10 million for the game. Maybe they could get the Bank of America to sponsor with some of its funny money. Ten mill is about what it would be worth to the local businesses in Charlotte and about half of what Carolina would lose by giving up a home game.

So that is how they got the east carolina game in 2011 and 2014, wondered how much that cost. We should have been irate when they signed the contract to play east carolina and take all that money from Columbia as well as cost the school that much, I had no idea.
