I was at the McCartney concert. In fact, he gave a lot of free tickets to the USC graduating class. Had to go to the Harbison Mall and show student ID and picked them up. So me and a bud went for free in fact. I'll always appreciate him doing that for us poor students. To my memory no one opened up, just him. Great show.

I was at the Elvis show at the Coliseum (showing my age here). February 16, 1977. He was dead 6 months later. He was overweight, and had trouble moving around. He sang "My Way" from sheet music to remember the words. Sad. The voice, however, never failed him. Coach McGuire presented him with a basketball warmup jacket with "Presley" stiched over the Gamecock on the breast. We sat behind the stage but had a great view of everything.
He also played the Township in early 1956 (before the Ed Sullivan appearance). |

As for this thread I cannot vote as I have never seen a concert at DV. Still kicking myself in the ass for not skipping work and going to the Floyd show, even though Floyd then was minus Waters. But I did see Roger Waters this past summer do the Wall - so I did scratch that itch. For any big Floyd fans out there - there is an elaborate Floyd show (Brit Floyd think it is called) playing 2 dates in NC in April. They showed a concert of them last night on the Public TV station doing one of those fund raising campaigns - I was pretty impressed and would recommend as a good show to see if it is anything like the concert they put on TV. Happy Hump Day!

Clemson wins this one. Pink Floyd trumps everything on that list.

I was there. Hootie played and Cowboy Mouth did as well. Maybe Edwin McCain? I vaguely remember Alanis Morrisett but that doesn't seem right for some reason.

My thoughts exactly... There are very few bands that can beat Pink Floyd live even without Roger Waters... Unless Spurticus shows up with information about a ridiculous lineup at Williams Brice Stadium we don't know about featuring Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, and the Allman Brothers we can forget this one...

This is CLA and not our stadium, but I'm going to see Taylor Swift on Saturday! I'm super excited, I found really cheap tickets

I abstain from voting since I've never seen a concert in either. Will say that for the bands I enjoy the most, Memorial Stadium gets the edge (because of Rage Against the Machine and Alice in Chains).
FWIW, in my book the CLA blows both of them away simply for having hosted a Pearl Jam show. |

Guys, the poll is regarding "concert history"... that means which venue do you believe has had the best acts perform there... not which venue you prefer.
Secondly, these poll results are a joke. Death Valley has all of the same big time acts as WB (except McCartney) and then some... the only thing that WB's list has is one additional large modern country music concert.

And Carter-Finley/NC State's field in Raleigh has put on some awesome shows. I saw the Stones and The Who there. And I'm pretty sure Pink Floyd, Grateful Dead and some other big names played there too.

The Ozzy/ Alice in Chains was at little john, not memorial. If your gonna include any concerts on campus, this wont even be close.
