The Dallas-Ft. Worth Metroplex could handle them. They have a shitton of facilities in the area and if they need more venues, Houston, Austin, and San Antonio are all a couple/few hours away. Plus, Texas actually has money and responsible government. Chicago and New York are big shitty dumps and have been for awhile. LA is beyond broke and California won't sniff a balanced budget for at least another century.
So if I was in charge of the US's Olympic committee, I'd push the hell out of a Dallas-centric Olympics. |

I go to Wide World of Sports at Disney annually for a cheerleading competition and it's nowhere near big enough to host much of anything of Olympic caliber. Maybe some small events. Very nice facilities, but not very big at all. In fact the cheerleading championships I go to every spring is starting to out grow the facility already.

Should come to DC/Bmore/Philly with events spread between the three cities and metro areas. DC and Baltimore are 40 minutes apart and Philly is two hours from Baltimore max. The DC-Baltimore metro area has 7 million people and the Philly metro area has 6 million, so there is plenty of infrastructure and hotel rooms. Plus you have arguably the two most American cities on display (DC and Philly) along with the place the Star Spangled Banner was written.

There have been a slew of economists that have argued that the origination of the Greek debt crisis was in preparations for the 2004 Games.

I have to agree with Tim Taylor on this one. Having the Olympics anywhere near any of those three cities would be the worst thing the US could do since we reelected Obummer.

New Orleans? Or too soon after Katrina?
Just saw that they were on a list of the top 90 cities in the world as far as number of hotels. They have the Superdome. A ton of college venues are close by (ie LSU). They could use Bourbon St/French Quarter for the Olympic Village :) |

They have had them in Mexico City before and that is a high elevation as well. Bunch of records were set as their air is thinner and there is less wind resistance for runners and such.

How so? Philly is where the Declaration of Independence was signed and is home to the Liberty Bell, Baltimore is where the Star Spangled Banner was written, and DC is the capital of the US. Not sure how you get more "American" than that. |

CandC. I lived in Bmore for 9 months. when I say this, I say it with all sincerity available. If I owned a nuke, I'd drop it on Bmore! That is the WORST city I've ever been in, without a doubt. DC isn't far behind. It's nice to visit DC and it's better than it used to be, but, it's still crap. The people there are rude and inconsiderate. The traffic is HORRENDOUS! and besides the history, it doesn't offer anything.
