To add more fuel to the Marty Hurney fire just a look at the 2011 offseason moves, the same ones which got us into this mess we are in now.

Greg Olsen 4 yrs/ 24 million (10 guaranteed)...ended up being a steal when compared to other TE'S contracts.

Jon Beason 5 yrs/50 millon (25 guaranteed) Injuries need I say more?

Charles Johnson 6 yrs/76 million(32 guaranteed)..he was the premier 4-3 DE that year a
Deangelo Williams 5 yrs./43 million(21 guaranteed)...No positive spin here. I love D-Will I Really do but he got us here.

James Anderson 5 yr/ 22 million(8.5 guaranteed)..The guarantee was low enough to where we could cut him without much pain as we did this year

Charles Godfrey 5 yrs./ 27.5 million(12.4 guaranteed)...annual average of 4.5 per year and totally blown out of proportion on being such a terrible deal. Or just look at the crazy deals above average FS's in their 20's have signed the last 3 years.

Olindo Mare 4 yrs/12 million...Almost forgot this one...his agent deserves a raise.

Thomas Davis-can't find the original deal...its been tinkered with a ton and just went up thanks his incentives he reached last year.


Lets not forget the top talent that the idiot GM has let walk over the years not an inclusive list: Will Witherspoon, Moose, Doug Evans,Ricky Manning Jr.,Richard Marshall and Chris Draft.

I hope I am not piling on the following are draft busts that Jeff Otah, Jimmy Clausen, Everette Brown, Armanti Edwards, every 2nd round pick he's ever made

There was a blurb on the Observer site that Armanti Edwards might be done, now that Ginn has been signed. Might just be speculation, but something to keep an ear out for ...

on edit: I found it, and it's Joe Person, so he may just be looking to malign somebody:

The acquisition of Ginn could spell the end of Edwards’ tenure in Charlotte. The former Appalachian State quarterback is entering the final year of his rookie deal, and has made virtually no impact while working as a returner/receiver.

Pilares hasn't been given much playing time. Especially since we signed Louis Murphy. Chud was wasting talent.

Maybe he's not playing because he sucks. Seriously, the guy has been here two seasons and only has a handful of receptions. That's flipping horrible. I mean dang, LaFell has gotten more receptions in one game than Pilares has in his entire career. He needs to go.

No clue was Armanti is still on the team. The rumor is he was Marty Hurney illegitimate son, but now that Hurney is gone....

Didn't take them long to use some of that money....they signed Former New York Giants LB Chase Blackburn to a 2-year deal. Last season, had 3 sacks and 61 tackles.

Greg Olsen-Shuffled money around and saved 2.4 million for this year's cap
Ryan Kalil -Shuffled money around and saved 3.45 million for this year cap
Jordan Gross- Saved 6.8 million for this year for this years cap and add's 3.6 in future dead money
Haruki Nakumara- Saved 500k for this year
Jonathan Stewart-minor move that raised cap figure $200k, unsure of why we did this.

total net savings for 2013 cap from ^^ = 9.75 million

combing the restructure savings and the outright cuts = 22.7 million in total savings for 2013 Cap

Dead money committed to 14 from these moves = 5.4 million.

Exercised option on Tolbert to remain with team thru 2015.

Estimated current cap room=7.636 million.*not including Edwards and Blackburn signings.
(PFT said we had $936,00 before the Gross Savings of 6.8 million and accounting for the Dwan Edwards and Chase Blackburn signings)

Cap room will also jump 2.8 million after June 1st once James Anderson cut hits the books.

Lastly the Rookie pool for our 13 Rookie class is expected to cost us around 4 million.
