You don't live in Columbia. Basketball has always been supported primarily by people in the Columbia metro. I even know Clemson (football) fans who are Carolina basketball fans because they live in Columbia. Frank will be amazed how quickly the crowds increase after a few decent wins.

I'm not saying he's done a bad job. We were better then last year, but I thought we faded out down the stretch almost as poorly as we did the previous two years.

I just can't be that optimistic when we finished 2-11 and looked awful. Darrin Horn got blasted for finishing the year this way the past couple seasons...yet Frank gets an appreciation thread?

Agreed. However, Frank's got more upside than Horn, and the expectations are much higher. Frank was left with an abysmal roster and he gets a pass...at least from me.

There are plenty of students who don't care about the basketball team. Most of the games that were well-attended this year, students had to be bribed with free food or giveaways. It's not the event that football games are

If I've learned anything living in Columbia the past 18 years, it's that this city will support any team if they're doing well. Baseball games never used to be a hot ticket. Most non-students have no problem going to games, but they all admit the team sucks and they wonder if it'll ever be different.

I've been in the Carolina Coliseum when Gamecock Basketball used to be a hot ticket and the environment was fantastic. I think they'll get back to those days eventually. We got a glimpse of it in the Odom Era with 1 Tourney Apperance and 2 NIT Titles.

Just said that both of their former programs carried on pretty well without them. Didn't make any comparison other than that. Briging Bama and LSU into a discussion of WKU and KSU is nonsense but if that was your point, well done. Like I said in another post, I do believe that Martin has wat it takes but it will be 2-3 more years before we see for sure. If he doesn't that will be one more similarity he has with Horn.

He is a great hire. He will upgrade the players over the next two years and then we will get to see him coach them to their potential also. Give the man 2-3 years before you compare him to failures. He was starting with the gas on empty. These guys lost their morale after that Florida game and get the loser mentality. FM had to be frustrated also and he couldn't change that with the current talent and attitudes.

Definitely give Frank time. Players love him as a coach. He's tough on them, but he gets the most out of them as well, and is always there for his players when they need guidance.
