Thompson's video was amazing, but it did not alter my previous opinion of his playing ability. My thoughts about him were already formed. Same with Shaw. I always respected his ability, but I didn't think he knew he needed Thompson until November or December. If I've been too blunt there, I'm sorry. It's just my opinion. Now that they've both stated they are team players, and Spurrier has confirmed it, I think that puts the issue in a different light. Spurrier is not "benching" either by playing whichever one he thinks is best for the particular game or time. He has the luxury of two great quarterbacks with different skill sets.

That "hero" song on DT's video is hard on the ears.

I love it! Of course, I like everything from Debussy and Beethoven to Jesus Culture, Bruno Mars, Taylor Swift, Usher, and Adele. I like some music in nearly every genre, but I don't like all of the music in any genre.

I did notice one thing while watching the Shaw Highlights. One of the things i have read from a few posters about the final throw from Dylan Thompson in that Michigan game is that "Shaw would not have made that throw." You all know who you are that have stated it. You say that he would have tucked it because he doesn't throw it when pressure is coming at him fast.
Look, everyone including Coach Spurrier knows that Shaw does sometimes hold onto the ball too long. We all know that is something he continually has to work on because his natural instinct is to make a play with his feet. But watching the highlight video in the first post, I saw a couple of passes from Shaw, that if Dylan had made the EXACT same throw, those SAME people that I referenced at the beginning of this post would have said that Shaw would not have thrown it. Again, you know who you are and if you watch the plays objectively, you absolutely know that you would have said "Well, Shaw wouldn't have made that throw and he would have tried to take off running." But the only problem with that is that Shaw did make the throw. Watch the throw by Shaw at the 50 second mark.... If Dylan had made this throw, I can think of at least two or three posters who would have said Shaw wouldn't have made it and would have tucked it and run. Now watch the throw at the 1:35 mark of the video. Wow! What a beautiful pass to Ace Sanders that was put exactly where it needed to be put with two defenders in hot pursuit. Notice the pressure coming straight at Connor. So again, lets be really honest here.... If Dylan had made that throw, you would have said that Connor would have tucked with it and run. Yet, he didn't. He threw it and threw one hell of a pass. My point in saying this is that I think some of you have been completely unfair in saying that Connor "wouldn't have made the throw at the end of the game against Michigan." You have no idea what he would have done. You may deny it, in which case, everyone on here knows that you would be full of sh*t, but you would have said the exact same thing about the throws that I pointed out above. You would have said he would have tucked it and run, but yet he didn't. Now, to flip it around. I don't think it is fair for those who say that Dylan wouldn't have been able to get out of the sack in the last drive of the Michigan game. Dylan is pretty athletic and his scrambling ability is much better than most people give him credit for. So we really don't know what he could have done. |

I'd personally rather see Dylan out there. Connor brings more of the running element that we need in some of these games, but Dylan is the better passer IMO.

I think seeing someone pass the ball well is refreshing for fans because we're not use to it, and we were under the impression when Spurrier came here that we'd be pitching the ball all around the field. So it feels like a 8 year wait in some ways and we've only gotten glimpses. Thompson is favorited by a lot of posters but I think that's because maybe we've seen Shaw's ceiling to an extent being that he's going into his senior year now. (Maybe not though, he dealt with some real injuries pretty much the entire season) We've only seen limited playing time from Thompson so I think it's kind of up in the air still about how good he can really be.
I'd like to see both play & I think that's what will happen. Neither have an ego, they support each other and both bring something to the table that helps this team. I think this situation (if you want to call it that) is going to make both QB's better. I must admit after he threw that last TD against Michigan, I looked to my friend and said "There's your QB going into next season" without a lot of thought put into what I said. We'll see.

LOVED watching Dylan's highlight video.
The pass over the middle to Nick Jones against Clemson might be my favorite pass from him all year. Thing of beauty.
