Acock's Wrap Up: Week 9
The SEC kind of took a week off this week. Other than USC - Mizzou most SEC teams were either taking a bye week, playing a crap FCS opponent, or playing a game that didn't have a lot of impact or drama.
Overall everything is still a mess. Both the East and West are still up in the air with four teams in the running on both sides. We should have some clarity next week but for right now enjoy the hope.
Game 1: #1 Alabama 45 Tennessee 10
This makes losing to Tennessee even more painful. It's like every year there's a game on the schedule that I can look at and say, "see that son? That's the Game We Shouldn't Have Lost." Thanks for making it crystal-clear Vols.
Game 2: #16 Texas A&M 56 Vandy 24
ATM turned the ball over 5 times, let Vandy trim a 28-0 lead to 28-17 and still managed to put 56 points on the board. Texas A&M is the most terrible good team in the nation.
Game 3: MSU 28 Kentucky 22
That huge sucking sound you heard on Thursday night was this game. Neither team could get out of it's way as they stumbled towards the 4th quarter. Kentucky, down at one point 21-7, proved that while they don't have any quit in them, they do have plenty of suck.
Game 4: #13 LSU 48 Furman 16
Furman trailed 20 - 16 at the half. This made LSU angry. LSU is retard-strong when poked with a stick. Best to lull them to sleep and double-tap them to the head.
Game 5: Ole Miss 59 Idaho 14
You feel better Hugh Freeze? Huh? You feel like a big man for beating up Idaho? Take a good look Hugh.. take a good look and see who you beat up:
Game 6: #11 Auburn 45 FAU 10
Second straight week that Auburn's scored 45 points. Given Beilema's inability to shut his mouth, look for that number to go up next week.
Game 7: #21 South Carolina 27 #5 Missouri 24 (2 OT)
Connor Shaw stole some souls.
Week 7 Power Ranking
1. Alabama (8-0)
Next up off: Gets a week off to prepare for LSU. Nick Saban will spend that time visiting each dorm room and showing the students in graphic handouts what will happen to them if they leave the game in the 3rd quarter.
2. Auburn (7-1)
Next up @Arkansas: Yes, Gene Chizik really was that bad of a coach. But hey, he got 7.6 million to shut up about how Auburn runs things and let Gus do the heavy lifting. What did you do this year?
3. LSU (7-2)
Next up off: Gets a week off to prepare for 'Bama. Will spend it pacing back and forth and occasionally walking into walls.
4. Mizzou (7-1)
Next up Tennessee: Don't hate on me. They're one play away from being undefeated and clinching the East.
5. South Carolina (6-2)
Next up MSU: Toys with its fan's emotions the way Prince treats record labels.
6. Texas A&M (6-2)
Next up UTEP: Will probably give up 5 turnovers, give up 350 yards on the ground and win by 42 points.
7. Ole Miss (5-3)
Next up off: A week off and then Arkansas. So two weeks off, really.
8. Florida (4-3)
Next up UGA: They've had a week to rest up and find an offense. The idea of falling to 4-4 has got to keep Muschamp up at night. Florida fans reward .500 ball by burning everything you own.
9. Georgia (4-3)
Next up Florida: A loss sends them to 4-4 as well. UGA/Florida is always entertaining, but this year it has the feel of a Mortal Kombat style death match. This is must see TV.
10. Tennessee (4-4)
Next up @Missouri: UT is down to it's 7th string QB or something like that. Is there any fight left in this team?
11. MSU (4-3)
Next up @South Carolina: Dan Mullen is going to make someone a fine offensive coordinator next year.
12. Vandy (4-4)
Next up off: Vandy has a week off. Only the equipment managers will notice.
13. Kentucky (1-6)
Next up Alabama State: There is no line on this game. Vegas wants no part of Kentucky.
14. Arkansas (3-5)
Next up Auburn: With his back against the wall, Beliema publicly calls out Gus Malzahn the week before their game. Let me know how that works out Knockwurst-Man.
Always remember... stay Feisty.
