Our receiving corps is going to be dominant, and we've even got new blood coming in.

Last night, it was all "Sammy Watkins" this and "Sammy Watkins" that.

Guess what? Since Sammy Dropkins showed up instead, they were stuck because all their other talent either dropped passes or muffed punts... or didn't show up at all.

Our receiving corps is built around Coach Spurrier's offensive concept and not the ego of one individual. Last night, unlike Clemson, we got stellar performances out of Shaq and Bruce and workmanlike performances from Nick and some others.

These teams that are built around flash and ego are easy to take down.

yes when you are looking at was initial possession but not when he takes 4 steps with the ball. that was bad interpretation of keeping possession to the ground.

thought the same thing, for him to actually come down with it while begin interfered with, only to then fumble it out of the endzone for a TB would have really sucked

Our receivers played well last night. They scored more points than the Clemson wides.
I am pleased with Shaq. He has not been that involved until now. I can see he is a fantastic athlete.

That was a horrible call. Shaq took three steps with the ball. I'm just glad it didn't come back to haunt us.

Wanna know how good our receivers really are? One of them threw a TD pass, something a certain QB for a certain team can't say about last night.

The same rule applies to the NFL. Doesn't matter how many steps you take, you have to maintain possession throughout.

If you don't, why did seven on field officials plus a review official not rule it a completion?

Boy did he come to play last night! Where has that been all year is all I can ask?

On the 'incomplete' pass; He was trying to make the big play. Had he simply caught the ball and just fallen down instead of trying to reach out across the goal line, we would have had the ball 1st & goal on the 1. Doesn't really matter now, obviously, but I would have loved to have seen that play stand.

Because they made a mistake? NFL is different. If a runner goes down without being touched and loses possession of the ball (once possession is established) it would be a fumble. That means the ground CAN cause a fumble in the NFL. In college ball, the ground can't cause a fumble, and that's the only thing that should have been ruled was a catch and he lost control after establishing control and falling to the ground.

this is correct because in the nfl you are not down until you are touched. in college you are down if you go down that is where the difference in the ground causing a fumble comes from

I can see the argument, however the fact that not only did Roland take 3 steps (ok, stumbled back 3 steps) but then stretched the ball out towards the goal line unquestionably showed he had control there.

I have seen nothing on Twitter or anywhere else that would suggest it was the wrong call. It was ruled incomplete on the field, reviewed, then upheld. I would think somewhere in there someone would realize it should have been a catch.

The link that I attached isn't from an official rulebook of any sort, but it clearly answers the play in question here. I will continue looking for the official NCAA ruling in the NCAA rulebook.

The reason it hasn't come up is because we still scored on that drive and it didn't change the outcome of the game. Officials get it wrong all the time.

If he can have a great offseason, he should be one of the best receivers in the conference next year statistically. Only downside to his arrival is less touches for Damiere Byrd and Nick Jones. Ellington should still get his.

I used to Officiate some Football and Basketball games back in the day and we were always taught the ground cannot cause a fumble. I clearly thought he had possession till he hit the ground. I would have ruled it a catch.

He reminds me more of a sidney than an alshon. I must give some props to junior for consistently developing these guys into some of the greatest receivers in the nation. Or at least he's not destroying their potential like Dabo used to for the tigers.
