Default Re: Positions of Concern: Next Year

CB-Only return McWilliams and Christian..hopefully Groves and Martin step up...and maybe move one of our safetys to CB (Chris Moody hopefully).
DL-Loss of Clowney, Sutton and Quarles will hurt. I like Gerald Dixon, Dixon Jr., Dukes and Griffin, but I'm still concerned with English and a backup for Dixon.
QB-We know Thompson can play, but he was inconsistent this year. That has to change.

Not concerned at all with RB, WR, TE, OL (when did you think we could ever say that) LB or K.

We just need English to gain weight...if he can get to between 240 and 250 I think he will be okay next year. I know that is a lot of weight to gain though.

CB is still the biggest area of concern next year.

With Surratt, Dixon Jr and Dukes along with Abu Lamin coming in, I feel OK about the middle of our line. It's replacing the ends that's gonna hurt.

English is good, but too small for the week end and week out grind of the SEC schedule. Dixon and Turner are going to have to step up.

LB should be ok next season. Moore, Holloman and Lewis all played pretty well as the season went along. Did Roberts start against clemson saturday? Seemed like I saw him missing alot of tackles early in the game. Troubling that Brison williams had to play with a broken arm. We need to get 20 at that position and 17 at the other safety if 20 can get all the way back from his knee.

QB. Thompson is not a running QB, e can pass like a mofo, but we need mobility in the SEC.

I think you will see a good dose of Pharoh in the wildcat next year to mix it up.

I would put mike in the wildcat like bama used to do with ingram or put mike back there with bwilds or another tailback and run the read option, if I was trying to manufacture some rushing yards.

My only concern is who will take position atop the taternet "most talked about" list... the next player to contribute to the streak.

He has really come into his own at the end of this year. I really hope we can continue to cultivate him. He can be a great one!

Cooper in the wildcat is a good idea, but we shouldn't feast off of it. If anything it give opposing D coordinators one more thing to game plan for when facing us.

He won't, he'll just use it like he did with gilmore, imop. Can cooper catch the ball well? I don't remember him catching a lot of passes this season.

As the depth charts stands now, we're way too stacked at RB and WR, and way too thin at CB. Something's got to give.

I think Jamari's best chance to play a lot is to move back to CB. Especially of we don't signe Green. He cracked the 2 deep as a true frosh and would battle for a starting spot next year at CB.

We have some guys that have some bright futures: Pharoah, Skai, David Johnson, Jamari, Walton, Bryant, Elder, and Rico. All young guys that should have big years along with the veterans next year.

OL and running game should be even better next year. Guys like Park and Rodgers contributing and Dave Williams.

Thompson will be solid at QB.

DL is loaded. Looks for guys like Dixon and Griffin to shine.

Skai Moore should have an All-SEC type season next year.

Only real concern is CB

You're confusing back ups with depth. Or quality depth I should say. Not giving up on this unit just yet but we don't have run stoppers. DL should have been a strength this seaon but was consistently blocked and out of position.

Punter is a big position of concern next year ... Carolina finished 14th in the SEC with a 38.3 yard average in that category this year and you could argue that punting heavily contributed to the UT loss, and thus, kept us from winning the East and playing AU in Atlanta.

If the staff can't afford to use a scholly on a punter, then they should hold open tryouts to find a punter who can consistently flip the field position. That, or maybe try rugby style punts.

CB, SS, Dline... LB/Spur has come around this season. They will be great next year, and honestly I think our Dline will be able to hold their own regardless of those guys leaving. Depth at that position is unbelievable. It is the CB/SS I am worried about.

Yea back-ups minus Surrat but we rotate D linemen so much it doesn't matter who starts. You have to be 2 and 3 deep on the DL in the SEC.

Guys like Dixon, Dukes, Dixon Jr. , Griffin, English and Harris all got tons on playing time this year and contributed. That is proven depth!

Add in guys like Lamin and Thomas that are coming in and redshirts Johnson and Turner. We will have a solid DL.

Why SS? We return our starters and all the backups? I think Brison and Elder hold it down for another year
