They were ready for us. We were also ready for them. That is when pure talent and coaching win. And we are five for five

FWIW, I think the halftime show was meant more to poke fun at Clemson for being farmers, hillbillies, rednecks, etc. As far as the repeat from one week to the next, I'm a student who has attended every home game and the band does a different show every week. And as far as playing contemporary music, over the course of the season the band has played music by Beyonce, Macklemore, Fergie, and a lot of other contemporary artists so I'm not really sure where your gripes are coming from.

In a way, this thread makes me happy. Beating Clemson has now become so commonplace and expected that we have to invent crazy controversies out of thin air to talk about post-game. I appreciate that someone's trying to keep it spicy.

But just to be a mark & play along, there is a more common synonym for "outplaying someone." It's called "beating them." So, by way of logic, if you don't beat someone, you didn't outplay them. "We outplayed them" was an argument some Gamecock fans tried to use in the 90's and early 2000's. It's a loser's mentality - period.

If they won the line of scrimmage so easily, why did they throw and why did they not sack Shaw almost every time. They have some great players, but they're great players aren't used to having to be forced to come from behind. You can always tell the heart of a team if they have the ability to come from behind and win.....and they couldn't do it.

Someone told me this today....true story, when Clowney sacked Boyd, he looked down at him and said "you ain't got no friends around here now....we're going to knock you head off". We put pressure on Boyd and it showed. He had 220 passing yards, he normally has over 300. Taters had 350 yards, they normally have almost 500. Their trick play in the first quarter failed....lousy pass. Our trick play worked. Those two plays by themselves were the difference in two TD's. If Jones and Shaq catch those 2 passes, we easily have more than 400 yards. If their defense was so dominant and stopped Davis, why did Shaw have over 120 yards rushing. Hey taters, you don't get points for stopping 10 out of 11.....that sounds like dabo logic.

As in, Shaw MAKING our running game, since no one else was able to.

Willing a team to victory, through turnovers and just making plays out of nothing. The difference in a "talented team" and a "great team".

Clemson's actual X's and O's battle probably was better than USC's tonight. But, USC FORCED turnovers, pressured Boyd, and when they didn't have a running game, and didn't have an open WR, Connor Shaw went into his beast mode, and just MADE it happen.

What a great win. Damn, I'm gonna miss watching Shaw and Clowney and Legree and Hampton and Quarrels and Sutton and all the other seniors play.

So far, 41 wins in 4 years. Not a bad way for a senior class to go out, huh?
BS simple as that.

In shaq's defense, he did catch that ball...I am not sure how that was ruled incomplete...furthermore, we scored on that drive (I think) so the yards were basically the same.

I could see Clowney's lips on the replay and that's the cleaned up version. It wasn't but about 3-4 words and ended in "bitch". I was figuring it was either "and stay down bitch" or "That's right. You my bitch!"

Our Band has improved tremendously over the last few years. The Carolina Bands shows were very good this year. Saturday's was hilarious. They were making fun of the back woods rednecks in the Southeast corner of the stadium, or Northwest corner of the state.

Clemson's show couldn't beat the top 3A bands in SC. Wando or Summerville would have blown them out of the stadium.

And to anyone that thinks the Tiger's outperformed our team on the field, PUT DOWN THE CRACK PIPE, and return to reality.

Wow. People obviously didn't get my point. Im a USC fan, for one. Not a Clemson one.

My point is, the stats show Clemson gained more yards. By "outplayed", I mean they probably went through the motions of each play more accurately and by the script than we did. BUT, our guys made more plays that aren't in the playbook. If that makes sense.

And that's a compliment to USC.

I think that if you use yards as your ONLY measuring stick then I guess I see the point you are trying to make...however, total yards does not take into account starting field position. It also does not take into account the penalty yards (which they had far more of so I would make the point that our guys actually went through the motions more accurately) and finally...you can only get so many yards until you run into the endzone. Total yards tells only a small bit of the overall story of the game. 6 Turnovers will kill anyone and also point to the fact they they did not go through the plays more accurately

a better way of descripting the way CU played "better" vs us is to compare prev 4 contest.
In those 4 we knocked them down, ran over around and away from them. they were simply beaten in every phase of the game. even if you left every penalty and turnover we made in place and magically erased each one they made they still would not likely win. they didn't lose because of mistakes and misfires so much as they lost because they were outgunned.
this yr if you did as every coach implys and remove his teams mistakes while leaving the others in place.. so SC keeps the off sides on 4th and Cu erases thiers, Sc keeps thier turnovers (oops none to keep:) and erase CU's THEN likely CU wins. now if you erase both sides mistakes, drops etc. I don't know who wins but it's close. point being CU played well enought to potentially win with out the self destruction in this yrs game.
in the prev 4 that was not the case, in each of those we beat them like a redheaded stepchild. we knocked them around and they were helpless to do anything about it.
i'll take either, for that matter any win but thier is some additional satisfaction when you take a good team and overwhelmed them.

Well put. They played better in this one than in the previous 4 but still managed to lose. We used to do that, snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Not anymore. Dumbest thing they did was to not run the RB more often but I'd have to think ward would adjust to that eventually and we were basically scheming against the pass, take the Wrs and qb out of the game more than the RB, leaving the run more open. Only a guess.

Yeah, they were running it well, and they were stopping our run. Shaw of course did his thing. But, most of his runs were on pass plays, where he wasn't supposed to run, but did. And made plays as a BALLER!!!

My point basically is for most plays, the first 2-4 seconds of the play, Clemson probably was in better position, and doing well enough to win.

Until USC's pure ballerism kicked in, and just made ball plays that ball players make!!

He actually pulled the ball into his body and took THREE steps. That was a catch and they blew the original call and the review. It happens. It wasn't as bad as the first down call vs Michigan where the Mich coaches and players were laughing at the bad call. Can you imagine what would have happened if Alec Baldwin had been USC's coach during that blown call? I don't want to even think about what could have happened.

he took like three steps backwards after catching the ball and then after consciously changing the ball postition in his hands tried to reach out for the TD. I know what the call was, but I thought it was total bollocks. I mean, what else does he have to do to establish a catch? He was down as soon as his butt hit the ground (prior to dropping the ball as he reached for EZ). Oh well, we scored on the drive anyway so no big deal

need explanation on our use of zone read........ my understanding/recollections ws that, similair to auburn, shaw met rb near los and read with option to hand off and rb goes one way or keep and qb goes the other way depending on the zone utilizing the deception of who is the carrier.

as with vs CU and for ALL season all of CS runs were either called pass then escaping or qb draws. i often saw qb hand off and fake the run out to alternate side but at no time this yr do i recall seeing the qb fake the handoff to one direction and keep to the other. thus no deception, "zone read" ableing the d to focus 100% on the rb as the carrier w/ no lead blocker and no need for the d to account for any other running threat in that set.

so my ? is... did i misunderstand the "zone read" and this is not a portion of it in our scheme. if not them what was it? and either way.... what happened to it? keeping in mind i noted this for all season, even when CS ran more it ws still escaping or qb draw or some stretch tripple option sets so far as i recall, not inside option hand or keep as i understood the "zone read" to be.

apreciate any and all on both my representation of zone read and of what happened to inside option regardless of whether that is considered zone read or not. thanks
