This is why(as someone who is planning on attending the bowl game)would rather go to Orlando. Logistically, it fits in my budget, and especially.. My vacation time... Hey, if the Cotton Bowl was on NY Day, I would be able to work it out to attend. Since it is on 1/3(after my vacation is up), it's going onbe very hard to go to Dallas.

If I was not going, I would think the Cotton Bowl would be neat for everyone involved... But considering how much ass I had to kiss from the wife, so i could go to a bowl game in the first place... I really hope we get picked by the Cap-1... If we end up in the Cotton, I might still go, but the damn locks might be changed when I get back to the house :)

Cotton Bowl is more prestigious.

When I think of Prestige I include the history associated with it.

The Cotton Bowl is very unlikely to take a team from as far east as SC when they KNOW they can fill the stadium with either LSU or Missou. It is simple math. 12-15k from SC or 35-40k from Missou or LSU.

It would be cool to go, but we would be better served by playing in a state that we actually have a chance to pull kids from (FLA or GA) and get a higher payout.

Historically, it does have a lot of tradition... But so does the Liberty Bowl... And now, that bowl is for 6-6/7-5 teams...

The payout doesn't matter. Bowl money is split among the other schools in the conference.

Once again, payout does not matter. all SEC schools split the payout equally...we are not in the Big 12

I wonder if Mettenberger getting hurt helps our Cotton Bowl chances? Would the committee feel LSU will bring fewer people with him not playing and maybe give an East team a shot?

I am in Frisco, TX (about 15-20 miles from Jerry's world) and if we get the Cotton Bowl my wife and I will be there. My in-laws also said they would come from SC. Like a previous poster noted, if Cotton Bowl works out and any of you have an opportunity to buy tickets and can't travel here please let me know.

I think there is too much risk playing in the Cotton Bowl. If we don't sell our tickets, we end up losing money. I just have a hard time believing there are enough Carolina fans that will pay to travel to Dallas. We are not a wealthy fanbase.

But the liberty bowl has never hosted national championship teams or been selected as one of the bowls for the new College playoff.

What I have heard is LSU is most likely destined for Tampa, regardless who wins the SEC-CG... LSU is a national draw(TV audience)... And they will travel well... Also, LSU already played in Jerry World this year (vs TCU)

We may have enough Gamecocks already in the lonestar state willing to take a huge chunk of that ticket allotment.

Very true... But if Jerry World had not been built yet, the Cotton Bowl would not be one of those Future BCS bowls...

Taking into account alumni, high level donors... And stuff like that... Towards the bottom of the SEC... ahead of Mississippi/MSU/Kentucky and Vandy... Missou has money, but a lot of it does not go towards their sports programs...
