Default Statues for Our Heroes

Here is a statue of Thierry Henry (Tee-Air-ee On-Ree) of England's Arsenal Soccer Club.

I think we should be considering our own pantheon of players (and one coach).

I'd like to see

1. Coach Spurrier (when he retires)
1 (A) Ray Tanner
2. Marcus Lattimore
3. Connor Shaw
4. Steve Taneyhill
5. George Rogers
6. MI6
7. Phil Petty
8. Alshon Jeffery

These statues can cost a fortune, so who would you select if we could only afford 5?

We should post a bunch of the best poses (Taneyhill with his arms up at midfield at Clemson, for example).

Any of Alshon's circus catches...

Melvin Ingram on his sprint down the sideline...

Marcus carrying five Florida players on his back into the end zone...

Ace Sanders about to juke five players out of their jock straps on a punt return...

Alshon's "Hail Mary" catch in the bowl game.

These statues could surround the Cock Pit or all be out in front where they get the most visibility (especially if Gameday is in town).

Please, no....we don't need statues.

They did that at Texas. I don't have time to look it up, maybe someone can find the link, but all the statues have the identical half black/half oriental look to them. Apparently they were made in China, they look God-awful.

George Rogers is the only one that qualifies right now. It's not that I don't appreciate what others have done, I just don't think that you should build a statue of a player unless they win a heisman and a coach if they win a national title.

Steve Spurrier may never win a national title here but he definitely deserves a statue and the field being named after him.

I agree, for all of our wins the past few years, unfortunately we haven't "won" anything except a couple of bowl trophies.
However, a statue like this would be nice at the baseball stadium.

I think a statue of Ray Tanner at the baseball stadium would be a good idea. Maybe one of Big George for football.

yeah a statue is a bit much, but i would start retiring jerseys of guys who qualify under our ad policy. kenny mckinley is going to be eligible after this season and id like us to start that in motion this offseason. eric norwood will be eligible after the 2014 season.

our policy now is to retire only jerseys and not numbers so its essentially a ring of honor which means theres no practical reason to avoid jerseys of those are worthy.

It always fascinates me when these things come up that we apparently only had two guys play football here for the first 100 years of the program but the past 10 or so are overloaded.

No offense, but why would we retire McKinley's number? Not the best example, imo

This^^^You don't just build statues for the sake of building them, you earn a statue and it this point the only one that has done something to earn it is George Rogers, Ray Tanner and the baseball team deserve a statue at the new ball park....
