The same guy that coaches the offense now?
Smart is the DC.

Wouldn't happen but hypothetically, what if Bama asked Spurrier to come. He could beat Bryant's record there & leave a Champion.

I don't see Spurrier leaving for Bama, and I don't really see them coming after him. He has unfinished business at USC, and they will want a coach that they know won't retire after 4 years.

I think it would have and effect (affect? those get me confused) on us. I think it would open up a few recruits in the southeast. A few that would normally pick Bama because of Saban might either chose Texas or another SEC school to stay closer to home. It then might have a trickle down effect (affect? lmao) and we may end up with a recruit or 2, maybe 3, that we might not have ended up with.

Exactly why I said hypothetically speaking.

Texas would be vastly easier to recruit than fighting with Auburn for Bama but I do hope he stays. If he leaves it's because Spurrier challenged him to rebuild a program from the ground up. But if really serious about Spurrier's challenge he needs to volunteer to coach Navy.

Texas is rich in HS talent, which is sorely lascking in Alabama. But Bama and Auburn have a system in place that consistenly puts 5-star talent in place. They just have to keep finding the right coaches to do something with it.

Saban signed a multi-year extension with Alabama today.

The bigger issue is Texas is afraid to fire Brown and he's not going down without a fight. This could be fun to watch.

I know...it's a lot more to it than that and "it's business"....but wow!

Guess Steve needs a bump to compensate...it's business at USC as well.

Money talks and Bama and Auburn have shown time and again that they will spend whatever it takes (as well as pay whomever it takes) to have championship football teams.
