Again:

Stop only looking at the PRO's of coming back. Sure there are a ton of PRO's to coming back. He could earn his degree. He could improve his stock. He could have another shot at winning the SEC or National Championship. He could play his way into a sure-fire first rounder. He could be a beloved Gamecock for the rest of his life, etc. etc. etc. So many more PRO's, we know.

But there are also CON's. Let's be serious here - Vic Hampton doesn't have the cleanest background. In fact, he doesn't have a clean background at all. Not only off the field, but on the field too. He and Spurrier didn't get a long for a while. You can say he's changed, and he's dedicated now, blah blah blah. But there are other worries too. What happens if he (as an emotional player) starts a brawl on a field and sits out 4 games for it? What happens if he tears his ACL? What happens if he breaks his wrist? What happens if he just has a lot of mishaps on the field? What if he plays his way into a 7th rounder?

Like I said in a different post. Sure, all of you want to point to the PRO's as reasons he should return. Should he return you will all love it. I will love it if he returns, I won't lie. But I don't want him to return because of me, or you. I want him to return for himself. This decision is way more than just a financial decision. It's very well noted that guys drafted in the top 3 rounds are given way more chances to succeed in the NFL than those drafted in rounds 4-7. While it's not impossible to be great drafted late - it's a much harder grind. If he wants to come back, great. But don't belittle someone for leaving early, for chasing their dream.

That's almost as bad as besmirching someone for mistakes in his past when by all accounts he has turned himself around in an impressive way.

Pure speculation either way and obviously there are examples of players raising their stock by playing as seniors and examples where it did not happen. I mentioned Swearinger earlier and think there's a decent set of similarities there.

All that being said, I think he's gone.

I'm not belittling him. His history is fact. His future has yet to unfold. Is it better for something bad to happen to him when he's already in the league, or before he gets there?

(I'm not saying anything bad is going to happen. But when making decisions like this you have to think about the pros and cons. The biggest con in this scenario is the UNKNOWN. The unknown, unforeseeable future which could be really good, or really bad. If shit were to hit the fan, would you not want to be in the league already? Because if you weren't, it could vastly affect when you're drafted, where you're drafted, and how much money you get once your drafted...and that's if your drafted....)

Lol @ all of the NFL talent scouts. Victor will be a great corner in the NFL. Coach Ward says he's one of the best cover guys he's coached. I do hope he comes back, but it's his decision. Goodluck and best wishes young man!

Yeah, because Coach Ward isn't a biased opinion on the matter at all.

I'm sure I'll get a negative reaction to this comment but the world is not 2D. There are other motives and reasoning behind comments. While coach Ward might really mean he is one of the best. He also might be hyping Vic up trying to improve his draft stock.

But no...he would never do that. Everything every coach ever says about a player is 100% true. They'd never lie to try and help a player...no, that's unheard of!

Victor is an excellent cover corner. His issues are in run support and playing disciplined football in the zone D. Earlier this year he was leaving his zone to try and make plays. He missed tackles and short passes ended up going to the house. He actually played solid, fundamental football the second half of the year. He has to learn he can't do it all by himself. I think a solid year back would help but I bet he goes in the fourth or fifth round if he comes out this year. He has a lot of raw talent.

Amen, he didn't crack any lists of top corners. However, he could have a strong combine being that he is the heaviest corner in the draft to still have speed. Sammy Watkins, IMO, showed why Vic's not 1st or 2nd round. In single coverage Watkins would have had 200 yards.

COME BACK VIC PLEASE!

I'm not going to argue that because it's true. But like I said before: You're weighing all the reasons he should stay just by the PRO's of what could happen. You refuse to talk about the CON's that could happen.

Vic could use another year. He could come back and solidify himself as a top 2 rounder. He could also come back and solidify himself as a 6th or 7th rounder. He could also come back and get seriously hurt. He could also come back and get into trouble. You're basically asking is a CHANCE (not a guarantee, keep that in mind) of being drafted a round or 2 higher. Meaning if he stays and is drafted in the second round, or leaves and is drafted in the late 3rd round, we're talking about $1,200,000. Is staying worth a chance of gaining 1.2 Million dollars, but you risk losing money too (nearly $700,000) if you get injured or just play your way into a later round pick.

Staying would help, but it is also a risk. If you are not a guaranteed top 2 round talent, this decision is tough. Because if you're a mid-3rd rounder and you stay, things can go wrong. Bad things happen. They do. Great things happen too. But is staying worth the risk of losing hundreds of thousands of dollars, compared to gaining hundreds of thousands of dollars? That's the decision that has to be made.

Football is a contact sport. Vic Hampton could come back and get a serious concussion the first week of fall camp and be out multiple weeks! I'm just saying, in my opinion, there's a lot more negatives that could happen than positives (when talking about Vic himself, not a team, or anything like that).

The next NFL cover corner from the Cocks. I hope he and clowney and qwelcee use the bowl game to improve their stock.
