I think he came in expecting to play three. I can see him needing the money.

Agree, that is why I wrote could return if not slotted to go in the top 2 rounds, since he only stated he would for sure go if projected in the 1st 2 rds he left the door open for anything other than that...

There is a significant difference between being quick and fast. Sanders was quick but not overly fast and Hampton is fast but not really quick. It's why he got burned on curls and double moves but was able to defend simple deep balls.

It would be better for most players to stay longer, instead of leaving. Sure there is a chance of getting injured, but I don't want a player who is making football decisions based off of the potential of injury. You could tear your ACL tripping on a curb. My point centers around 2 points. 1.) Making it in the NFL has a lot to do with maturity and attitude. People (Andrew Luck, etc.) who have stayed the extra year, most often come out more prepared to handle the mental stresses of the league. 2.) Most NFL players make a pretty solid income for about 3 years. Sure its a lot of money, and it probably seems like more money than you could ever spend, but once you start a family, you see that money is not really all that much. Not to mention that the flow of money stops as soon as you can't hang anymore. (About 3 years for most guys). Then what?

Why not stay in school, surround yourself with people that are not gassing you up, and prepare yourself for the longterm?

Debatable. A lot of the NFL is luck and stepping up and making the most of your chance when given the opp. I too think he should be back.....but I wouldn't label it a "mistake". He could very well be in a starting lineup next year at this time.

Was Ace gonna put on the visor and make some different play calls? Because those are what cost the UGA and Tenn games....not the loss of Ace.

Charles Woodson, Champ Bailey, Asante Samuel, Deagelo Hall, Charles Tillman, Troy Polamalu, Antonio Cromartie.

14 of the top 20 in career interceptions (ACTIVE) left school early...so I don't think how long a corner stays in school matters to NFL teams. Also the fact that most of the top CB's drafted leave early year in and year out.

And to your second point? If he cared about school he'd come back in the off-season and finish his degree like Darian Stuart, Tori Gurley, Syvelle Newton, and others have.

I'm amazed some people on here still think Ace should've stayed. He had a break out year on ST which got him noticed. His role on offense wouldn't have expanded any his senior year and his ST numbers would've gone down because teams would be prepared for him this go round. The guy made a great decision to go pro. His ceiling, given our offense and his abilities, was 3-4th round and that's where he went.

Hit the nail on the head. He went at the best possible time for him and I am happy for him. Coming back for his senior year would not have changed our results this season.

I respectfully disagree. On the goal line end of game and run the option? Suspect at best IMO.

I understand the difference between quick and fast. I will be shocked if Hampton runs a sub 4.5 at the combine. If he could, I think he would he ranked in the top 15 CB which he isn't. Only 14 CB out of 35 ran under 4.5 last year.
