I don't think he leaves bc he would not have joined the basketball team risking an injury for what 2 games?

Just speculating here, but, what if those 2 games made him realize that he doesn't love basketball the way he use to and that if he is going to play a sport for the rest of his life he'd rather it be Football?

If he can be a receiver in the NFL now then he can if he stays one more year. If he goes, I'd be willing to bet there will be a game next year we say, if only we had Bruce ala Ace in the Tennessee game. We need him to come back.

Good teams have good players leave early, just gotta be able to replace them. I think we're just fine at receiver if he leaves, though obviously I'd like to have him back. He's the kind of kid (ala Lattimore) that you really want to make it to the next level though, just because of how good a person he is.

That's flawed logic. So Lattimore, Clowney, Gilmore, etc. should've come back? They all could've gone to the NFL after their senior year.

And if you're saying if he's a mid-round draft pick either way then he should return, you're obviously not taking the risk of staying into account.

If Bruce is thinking about the NFL, in my opinion he has a lot more to lose his senior year than gain in terms of draft stock.

Sent from iPhone, please excuse minor grammatical errors.

Aside from losing an experienced playmaker, the other negative about him leaving early (if he decides to do so) is that it won't open up another football scholarship for recruiting this year. Unless I'm mistaken, I'm pretty sure he's still attending school on a basketball scholarship.

Will miss him, but he probably needs to go. I think he could be a solid playmaker at the next level.

The division 1 "clock" is continuous so if he left for football he could not comeback to play D-1 basketball even though he had a year left. He would have to drop to D-2 and at that point what's the point?

He counts against basketball and football total scholarship allowance. They do this so they can't sign kids with baseball scholarship but really is a football player.

Thanks for the clarification; I guess that makes sense. That's a small silver lining in the event that he makes the jump.

I could be wrong about this, but I think Bear Bryant is a big reason for that.

Nope, you're correct. Bear Bryant had people on swimming scholarships at one point.

I don't "Think" this is totally correct.

He was originally on a Basketball scholarship. Once he decided to play football, his scholarship went to football. He is now a "Walk On" for the Basketball Team.

Again, I "Think" this is how it works.

I will say this...Bruce will not go pro...(This Year)...He will have a wonderful chance to elevate his stock next year and will have a bunch of balls thrown his way...He will be important to us next year due to the fact that Shaw will be gone and Dylan will not run the ball ....

If I grade out high enough I'm going to go too, but it ain't likely. I'm with the HBC on this question: If he's lower than first round he shouldn't go early.
