Default Re: tired of the "frank quit on the team"

I realize this mini-rant is directed toward a minority, but here goes:

1. Gregg Marshall will NEVER be the coach at South Carolina. There were three recent chances for him to get the gig and he didn't even make the final cut. Yes, he would have been a better hire than Odom or Horn (that's not saying much). But he didn't get the gig then and he isn't going to be getting it. Move along.

2. Because of those two hires and Eddie Fogler's "mailing it in" his last couple of years, the rebuilding job for the men's basketball program is going to take some time -- try three or four full recruiting cycles.

3. Frank Martin is a VERY good coach. You can already see the improvement in this team and the talent and athleticism on the team has improved significantly in his short time in Columbia. He will get the job done -- if he sticks around (near empty arenas are going to take their toll eventually).

Bottom line - be patient, show some support, AND STOP CALLING FOR A NEW COACH!!!

Feel like bumping this, because according to realtimerpi.com, we have the #11 SOS in the country right now. To have that type of competition and be 5-6 with a combined 12 freshmen & sophomores ain't that bad in my book. Go Cocks beat Marshall!

I still think Martin is a great hire. I think better days are still ahead for the Gamecocks under Martin's leadership. However, yes, Marshall should have been hired years ago, when he was available.

Im a big fan of the guy. I saw what he did at Winthrop and it was phenomenal.
