There are system qb's, Smith is a good example, but once you make it to the NFL numbers are numbers and rings are rings. You could say RG3 is a system qb, but he ran the system well enough last year to win ROY.

Another great regular season from Peyton. I'm excited to see how he'll manage to underachieve in the playoffs this year!

Which Smith are you talking about? Alex Smith? This is 7th different offense in 8 years. Definitely not a system QB. Hell Reid had to change some of his philosophy when he got to KC and for the the better.

Statistically, the only person that comes close is Nick Foles, but in this case, "coming close" is still a ways off. Considering what the Eagles did once he stepped in and stepped up is huge too. Throw in a first year coach with a completely new system and I think it's safe to say he (Foles) has done quite well in a short period of time.

Brady is an elite QB and always has been.
You should have stopped after that first sentence, because that's exactly what Brady has been (with the exception of the 07-09 seasons with Moss).

I love how you ignore that Brady had Antowain Smith for his first Super Bowl. You know the guy who had over 1,100 rushing yards (12th in the league) and was second in the league with 12 rushing touchdowns. They were 6th in the NFL in scoring defense. Without Adam Vinatieri's leg, they don't win that Super Bowl.

Second Super Bowl, Brady had the number one scoring defense in the entire league leading the way for him. If it wasn't for John Kasay going full retard, the Pats don't win that Super Bowl either.

Third Super Bowl, Brady was handing the ball off to Corey Dillion who was second in the NFL with just over 1,600 yards rushing, but was first in yards per game. Patriots had the second best scoring defense in the league.

What has Brady done since then? Jackshit.

2006, they had the 2nd best scoring defense, and Dillion and Maroney had nearly 1,600 rushing yards combined (and only 3 fumbles in over 370 combined carries FYI). Who eliminated them in the playoffs? Peyton Manning.

2007, again had the 2nd best scoring defense, an above average rushing attack (13th, Maroney didn't have a single fumble in 185 carries), not to mention the second most talented wide receiver in NFL history (Moss, only behind Calvin Johnson in terms of talent). What does he do? Chokes to another Manning because he can't handle a pass rush.

2008, his back-up who hadn't started a single game since 2001.. IN HIGH SCHOOL! comes in and wins 11 games.

2009, top 5 scoring defense. 12th best rushing attack. What does Brady do? Loses at home to Baltimore. His performance? 23-42 for 152 yards and 3 picks. Yeah that was all on his defense.

2010, 8th in scoring defense. 9th in rushing yards and 2nd in rushing touchdowns. How do they go out? Brady produces a whopping 3 points at home in a 14-3 loss against the Jets. Brady throws a pick for the only turnover in the game. Your defense only gives up 14 points and you can't win the game at home?

2011, I'll give you this one because their defense was only 15th in scoring defense, but the Giants were 25th in scoring defense giving up 25 points a game and the Brady could only put up 17. Brady also threw a pick for the games only turnover. Tsk tsk.

2012, 9th in scoring defense, 7th in rushing yards and 2nd in rushing touchdowns. Lose, AT HOME YET AGAIN! to the Ravens. Guess who throws two more interceptions? The Patriots were scoring 35 ppg that season and the Ravens were giving up 21.5. Yet Brady can only put up 13 at home.

That's bizzarre comment as well as the Tom Brady comments. I have no dog in this hunt, but you obviously have some significant bias against the Pats.

Must suck for you when they keep winning and beat Manning with all their "systems".

Having the best rushing attack in the league didn't hurt.

Edelman and Amendola were taylormade for the short quick passes from the air raid. Aaron Dobson - while overlooked - was a stud at Marshall. In fact, he had one of the catches of the year in either 2011 or 2012 (look it up).

Another thing ESPN won't mention as the reason for the Patriots success (other than the fact that they were gifted at least one, if not two wins this year), is the fact that they have a top 10 defense again (scoring, not yards, you win and lose based on points), had the number two rushing offense and had the second most rushing touchdowns as well.

Brady's QB rating was 87.3 this year. That puts him in the company of Andy Dalton, Jay Cutler, Sam Bradford, and Carson Palmer. Real who's who among quarterbacks. Hell his QBR (if you are into that sort of thing) was 61.09 which puts him in the Romo/Dalton/Fitzpatrick area again.

He was an above average QB before he got Moss (but given how shitty the league wide qb situation was from 2000 until 2005ish, he was called elite by default) and then he started having great numbers. Peyton has had great numbers no matter where he's gone. The Patriots lose Brady and put in a QB that hadn't started a game in over 5-6 years, and still win 11 games. Manning goes out with an injury and the Colts go 2-14 and have the first pick. If that's not a system, then there is no system.
Not a patriots fan by any means, absolutely hate Belicheat but it did my heart good to see them beat the Charlotte Panthers.

Wow, this would suck...

Quote:
"The yardage total gave Manning 5,477 -- one more than Drew Brees' 2011 record.

The league's record-keepers were taking another look at things Monday, as is customary each week in the season. At issue, according to sources, is a 7-yard completion from Manning to Eric Decker with just over a minute remaining in the first quarter.

Manning set the mark on the last play from scrimmage for the Broncos before halftime, a 5-yard touchdown pass to Demaryius Thomas. He did not play in the second half.

In one camera angle, the pass to Decker looks like a lateral, which would make it a running play. Another angle, from above, shows Decker receiving the ball at the Broncos' 48-yard line, with Manning slightly deeper than that.
If the play stands, Manning would keep the record. If it is eventually ruled a run, he would be credited with 259 yards Sunday and 5,470 this season. The 5,470 would be the second-highest season total in league history and still easily be Manning's career best."
