You missing the BCS polls already? The BCS had it's flaws but at least there was a mathematical method to the madness but to put the entire playoff in the hands of people is plain f'n stupid.

Like I've said though, we win the SEC and we'll be in. Anything less and our destiny is in the hands of these jokers on 'The Committee.'
Well stated! human element=egos and politics.
Fans are so excited about finally getting a playoff but don't think they realize "A Committee" will now be in charge of picking the top 4 teams. I personally liked strength of schedule being a part of the equation and think the BCS ranking system should have for the most part remained, then let the top 4 in the final poll go to the platoffs... and get rid of the conference tie-ins. I see too much pressure to allow 2 teams from the same conference to ever be in the top 4, one team each from whomever "The Committee"" thinks are the best conferences that year.

Yeh I don't understand why they even need a committee. Why not just use a BCS type poll to get the top 4 (8 hopefully later) to play the playoffs.

Although the BCS poll was useless in determining the #1 and #2 teams, it was good at finding out which teams were among the top teams. I think they should keep the BCS poll, and use it as a tool to seed a tournament bracket, but this tournament should have 8 teams, maybe 12 or 16. That's 3 or 4 rounds. FCS has 5 rounds in their tournament-so there shouldn't be an issue asking FBS to play a 4-round tournament.

Take the BCS conference champions (ACC, Big 10, Big 12, Pac-12, SEC, and whatever they call the Big East these days.), make these your 6 AQ teams. For your "at large" teams, take the non-AQ teams with the highest BCS rankings and give them bids. Seed all teams according to BCS ranking, and play until you determine the champions.

The NCAA always finds a way around the simple way out for some reason.

Who wants to bet that an undeserving Texas team will be in the first Playoff with less than 11 wins? Might as well throw in So Cal, for old times sake...now I'm going to PUKE.

It really is that easy. Why are they using a different method for the FBS? It makes no sense.

did you see how some of the computer models worked....that's why they had to throw out the highest and lowest computer models. The committee not only picks the final 4 but the other 8 teams to play in the other major bowls.

I've got a question. That article said ESPN paid 7.3 Billion dollars for the broadcasting rights to those games.
Who in the hell gets that money?
The NCAA?
There some money to pay the players right there. That's a lot of freaking coin man.

Nothing will change for us, we need to win the SEC. We do that and we'll be in the playoff, unless the SEC has a very strange and down year. And I don't see that happening anytime soon.

How the hell did Dan Radakovich, Clemson AD, get on the committee in the first place?
Have to agree...if there is one organization that can complicate the easy and stupify he simple...it is the NCAA.

I think we also have to blame ESPN...WAY TOO MUCH MONEY in major college football.

Why can't we just run the same system they use for D1-AA, D2 and D3?
It works. It is simple.

The article says the playoff "will be in place until 2025". Does that mean they can't expand to 8 until then and we're locked into 4 only? Or can the system be modified before 2025 to include 8 more teams?

I think they are SOL that year if they don't make the playoff and the next bowl can invite them. The SEC is only tied to the Sugar in years where they aren't in the playoff.

Money talks, and if you are making it then you a doing something right. The immense amount of money college football makes is proportional to the popularity of the league.

We don't need a long playoff. We've already got Mega conferences forming talking about playing 9 conference games (Pac 12 already doing it), You have conference championship games, and big time traditional rivals in-conference, out-of-conference, instate- out of state that schools are going to scrap and claw to try to preserve. Then you need to have a few out of conference games to see how the conferences compare so you can at least have SOME idea how to compare teams from different conferences to see who really deserves to BE in the playoffs and who does not. Then you have "The little guy" who is going to be left out because no one will have any room to put a "cupcake" on the schedule any more, and they are going to lose a ton of money and probably go out of business.
It's just too many games.

FCS and Major College football are nothing alike. The reason why it works in the FCS and down is because hardly anyone cares enough of bother to complain about it. There is a reason why the FCS sucks and is not popular, and major college football is awesome and one of the top 2 popular sports in this country. There is no logical reason for us to try to be more like the like the sucky FCS and Div. II. A long drawn out playoff is not going to make college football any better. It's the things that a lot of certain schools would have to give up that make it the great sport it is today.

Only problem with that statement is the people making it aren't getting it...those league commissioners are doing next to nothing. The players do the work and get next to zilch for it.

Keep in mind, it is amateur sport...sadly, immense wealth and ESPN, while made the sport more popular, has also corrupted it.

Do you have a reason in there that the FCS playoff wouldn't work at the former BCS Level? "It sucks" and "there's no one to complain about it" aren't reasons.

I don't think so, I've heard a lot of experts say they think it will go to eight within 5 years. 11 years of a 4 team playoff decided by a human committee would be agony. Unless we won it every year and then I would scream at the top of my lungs to back off and leave it alone! Kinda like Jimbo did yesterday.

The NCAA loves to say it's an amateur sport, but it hasn't been for decades.
