Not sure about the Chromecast, but I do use the Roku 3 which I enjoy. The Roku 3 has tons of features and is super fast as compared to the other devices. The reason I didn't grab the Chromecast is because it didn't have the ability to carry Amazon Instant Video for whatever reason. The Roku 3 does everything the Chromecast does and more, I would highly recommend it. It does cost more though, was going for $89 on Amazon, they are $99 at Best Buy.

We've had Apple TV for some months now and enjoy it. But I just got Chromecast as a groomsmens' gift from a wedding I was in last weekend. Probably one of the best groomsmens' gifts I've ever gotten. Haven't hooked it up yet though.

It's has a lot of potential. Just needs more app support right now. I've got two of them one I bought and one Christmas gift. However right now, I prefer the roku 3 I have.

I love mine, though I do agree with there needs to be more app support. However, Google has said that those are coming. Honestly, I would buy one now for $35 ($30 if you check Amazon regularly) before they add more apps and the price goes up. It is super easy to hook up and plays very nice videos. It is definitely worth the money I can promise you that.

They just doubled the number of apps a few weeks ago. They are just barely scratching the surface of what they intend for the thing to be able to do. This is the map for 2014: http://www.androidauthority.com/chro...k-2014-324662/

BTW, now is one of those sale times. $29.99. Like Tiburon said, that is a good investment.

I agree but every app you have listed there will cast to a roku too. When I click the cast icon I get the option of casting to my chromecast or roku. Both work flawless. However right now my favorite is the roku because it has thousands of channels and games along with the casting feature.

I agree. The Roku 3 also has a new processor which is 5x faster then anything out there right now. It brings the channels up quick. Also you can add tons of private channels from all over the world (yes, even has porn channels lol). Literally thousands of them. Plus you can stream flawlessly from you PC.

So sell me on the apple tv, I have a brd player which I can stream Netflix and such over, but I have. $100 credit at the apple store and there's nothing other then the apple tv that I am even interested in. Only prob is I am scared it would be redundant.

No fees for these, they are just tools to get you to the apps or movie/tv programs such as amazon or netflix. Now those do have a monthly or yearly fee. However on the Roku there are many many free channels. Just depends on what you want to watch.

We love it for streaming Amazon Prime and Netflix. But we use it just as much for linking out phones and iPads to it to stream from those. So I guess that would be my favorite attribute of Apple TV?

I use my AppleTV for Netflix, Watch ESPN, HBO GO, and to stream music. Also, I am able to mirror my Macbook to my television via AppleTV, which allows me to play tv shows, movies, etc. that I have downloaded on my computer. Furthermore, it's simple and doesn't take up much space.

They're very affordable, work relatively well with ok quality, portable and easy to set up and use. Roku 3 is better in my opinion for leaving at home and seem to have more apps. The factory earbuds with the Roku are junk tho.

I got a Chromecast for Christmas. It works great for videos it can play through an app (such as Netflix). However, the "tabbing feature," in which you simply project what's on your Chrome tab onto the TV, doesn't work very well.

As long as Chromecast adds more supported apps it will be worth the money.
