However, 66% of Vandy' revenues come from health care services and 63% of their expenses come from the same. Which gives insight to the institution- they are an educational and medical research organization. All that said, Athletics and University monies don't typically comingle. So Franklin isn't getting paid out of university coffers beyond the miniscule salary as most of coaches compensation comes from contracts with Nike/UA, adverstising, TV shows, endorsements etc.

Penn State's brand can top Vandy's anyday so expect PSU to dig deep into their wallets to get the right coach.

Ya, I never said they would throw any of that money at the football program but they do have access to pretty hefty funds if they did want to keep the coach who has made their football program at the very least relevant. Having a good football program will only help get them more national attention which = more money.

Penn State: According to the Times-Tribune, Penn State has offered the job to James Franklin. Officials from Penn State made the offer tonight in Destin (FL) while meeting with Franklin, who is expected to make a decision on Thursday.

Penn State: ESPN's Joe Schad reports that no formal offer has been made to James Franklin, but he is the clear leader. Late last night, the Times-Union reported that Franklin was offered the job during a meeting with Penn State officials in Destin, FL.

What trouble did Franklin bring upon Vandy? I can't find anything on him about recruiting violations, improper benefits to players etc. like we've been cited for. I don't see in malfeasance with finances etc. No scandals just seems like a pretty good guy with...integrity. I always assumed Schiano was the best fit for PSU. My father-in-law is a PSU grad, and for years (before the Sandusky scandal) he had told me the assumption by most of their fanbase was that Schiano would 'come home' when Paterno hung it up.

He's a good guy, but I don't see him lasting there more than 3 years.
