Default Re: South Carolina Under Armour Contract Details/DataBase

I don't really care who we use. I have no problems with Nike or Under Armour, more than half my post in this entire thread were in a conversation/argument about which is better and myself stating that you cannot "prove" one is better than the other with facts.

However, when our contract runs out with Under Armour, when eve that may be, and we have to resign or restructure a deal, well, it could get REALLY interesting.

Nike will have some major pull if we keep our current coaches intact. Think about this:

1. Dawn Staley - One of the top coaches in Womens basketball and only getting bigger. She has a shoe made by Nike.

2. Chad Holbrook came from North Carolina, a Nike school. Chad Holbrook used Nike his entire career until coming to this University.

3. Frank Martin came from Kansas State. Kansas State isn't a Nike school, but their Basketball program is. Not only that, but Frank Martin has a very good relationship with Nike due to his time as a Booker T Washington High School in Miami. He lead them to become one of the Nike Elite teams in the country, one of only 15 at the time.

The only major department that has no ties to Nike is football. While UA will fight to keep us - Nike might push hard to get us too. With that said, I don't really care as long as they supply us with decent product.

Actually, that is not the case. Adidas and Converse were the big kids on the block in the NBA back then...Nike was considered an 'upstart' or the new kid on the block. MJ's agent approached several companies about the Air Jordan shoes and Nike outbid the others. Smart move on their part b/c it put them on the map as a prime time player. Converse had Larry Bird and Magic Johnson who were already in the league so they really just didn't need MJ. To Nike's credit, they chose wisely with MJ who proved to be more marketable than the others even to this day.

UA's big advantage when they started was using material that would wick moisture away from the athletes. Keeping an athlete dry helps him perform better. On the front of technology like this, UA blows all of the others out of the water.

Yeah UA got away from 100% cotton and IMO created a great product. At one time all I had was 100% cotton shirts; not anymore.

I will say those 100% cotton Nike shirts are better for rotund individuals. UA is for the trimmer ones. This probably has a lot to do with preference.
