1. Quarterback, although we all seem to have a good idea who the starter is going to be.

2. The secondary. There will be talent back there, no doubt, but it will be young, inexperienced, and unproven.

3. Can MD28 get back to his early season form from 2013? He obviously wasn't healthy down the stretch in 2013, but I think it's because he had to take on more carries after Wilds went down. Anyone else notice how great our offense was early in the season when both of those guys were getting carries?

4. Not as much of a question, in fact it's probably a strength of the team in 2014, but how will the WR rotation work out?

5. Can the OL improve again and play at a more consistent level? The 2014 offense has a chance to be absolutely explosive if the OL holds up. There's too much talent for it not to be.

CB, Cornerback, and the Corner position are our top 3 concerns.

The safeties and spurs will be a veteran group. Sr's and 3rd year players in the 2 deep at all 3 positions.

Corner is a whole different story. Rico is the only guy with a handful of snaps.

Whammy may have to start bringing more blitzes now that we no longer have Clowney and Quarles. CB situation speaks for itself. We may very well have two true freshman starting at that spot when we open against A and M.

That fact makes generating a pass rush all the more vital to help disguise some of the mistakes the young secondary will make. Im ready to see who steps up on the D line to win the starting jobs
I agree on all three points. The biggest question marks remaining until opening fall is (1) The Quarterback Situation, (2) The Cornerback Situation, and (3) The Defensive Line Situation.

However, I fail to see why people are thinking Dylan Thompson is the immortal lock at QB. It's not like he is the returning starter. And we can stop pretending that Spurrier gives positions based on seniority - it's simply not true.

The quarterbacks will duke it out in the Spring and Fall to try and be #1 overall come Texas A&M. Dylan might be #1 in the Spring, and maybe even entering the Fall - but lets not pretend like Nosovitch and Mitch don't have a shot in hell at starting. Spurrier is going to start who he trust to get the job done, and done well. Not who has been here the longest, or who he has promised anything, etc.

Another good point. Replacing leaders on defense, again. Kawain Lewis, Skai Moore (even though he is only going to be a Sophomore), and Brison Williams will have to be our defensive leaders, in my opinion.

great point. i am also wondering what these people are talking about. dylan thompson regressed this season, which i knew was a real possibility, concerning how many int's he ALMOST threw the year before. but because the defense couldn't catch them, thompson ended up looking better than he actually was. so why these guys are cementing him into the starting role is beyond ridiculous.
i for one, have continually thought that connor will continue to be our starting qb, he will just change his last name. mitch out-performed thompson in preseason camp last year, and i expect him to do it again this year. i don't know when it will happen, but i fully expect mitch to take the starting qb position before the season if over.

btw, if we land green, and hopefully lammons as well, our cb position will be just fine.

i think its more of a freak injury than anything else. brandon wilds didnt play from the point at which he got injured in the ucf game up until coastal. it wasnt an accumulation of hits or him wearing down, he got off to a good start in the florida game, his ankle got caught and he just wasnt the same after that. that said we certainly want to keep him fresh the entire season. he can handle the 20 touches a game, but assuming our qb isnt running as much as shaw did its going to be even more vital to give the backup rbs some carries.

Dylan Thompson, "is without question going to be our starting quarterback unless he gets hurt," Steve Spurrier says.

I think we can stop the Dylan may not be our starter talk. SOS has said this about 5 times on record.

got a link? not saying it didn't happen, but i haven't heard this. but even if he did say something to that affect, he also said those things early for garcia as well, and we see how that turned out. there is NO DEFINITE in college football. sentiments will change if mitch beats him out in preseason camp, or even in the spring. i am just not sold on thompson's accuracy, or his being the fulltime guy. he looked very shakey at mizzou.

If there is one thing we know as Gamecocks is if your a DB talented enough to play early you can, and you can succeed at it (Gilmore, Swearinger, Auguste etc.) We are most likely going to land Green, Smith, Lammons, Smalls, and Harris Jr as our DB haul. That will be one of the best DB hauls of this class.

The talent and athleticism is there. We will see just how much Grady Brown can coach these guys up before August.

Spurrier said it tonight in an interview after the tribute.

Thompson is a lot different than Garcia.

All I'm saying is, Spurrier can say that until he is blue in the face. If Thompson deserves the starters position, I'm all for it, but if by Texas A&M week, Mitch, Nosovitch, or any other QB has OUT PERFORMED Thompson in practice, he won't be the starter.

The plan can very well be to have DT be the starter. That's a good plan. But you have options.

Spurrier said it yesterday. Dylan is our starting QB unless he gets hurt, period. That's what he said. How much of that anyone wants to believe is up to them. My feeling is that Mitch or Nosovitch would have to be much better than Dylan to take the job away from an experienced senior. I just don't see that happening early in the season. If we struggle at the position then absolutely he would make a change based on his history.

It really comes down to this on offense imo. The OL will need to make a big jump to duplicate the success we had this year. If they stay the same, this offense will struggle against top competition. Also either Mitch or Nosovitch needs to separate himself from the other guy. As sure as the sun will rise tomorrow the backup will be called upon at a critical time next year to win a game or multiple games.

Yes this is when he said it. No I'm not wasting my time putting up a link.
Spurrier has said this several times. If some of you can't get this through your head then idk what else to say. You just want the backup to play
