I'm tired of having undersized MLB's since Brinkley left. Keep him at the second level, and let DE's be DE's. If we have more stopping power in the middle, we can get more pressure from the edge guys and keep the DE's from pinching inside so often and getting run past on fakes. I'd love to have a 250+ guy inside with quickness and a side-to-side motor. When we had Brinkley in the middle, everybody around him played better, partly because they could attend to their own gaps.

Brinkley was by far the best MLB in my time as a Gamecock IMO. If BAW can even come close it will be great.

I agree with you. How has Larenz Bryant been developing? I know I saw him on a lot of ST plays... and that wasn't exactly our bright spot

Norwood will always remain one of the greatest if for nothing else interrupting the post-game interview to participate in the Alma Mater.

Bryant has been doing well, but lacked the mental part of the game like most true freshman. Golightly and Diggs were way ahead in the mental game. Ward recently said that he was very excited to see what Larenz Bryant and Jonathan Walton will bring heading into spring practice. Both are physically ready and both of them should see PT next season and could potentially be starters.

What's Bryant up to? We have a very nice LB core. Who would've thought we'd already be able to say that after losing our two deep

No doubt, I guess I think of Norwood as more of a rush end and Brinkley as more of a true MLB. I think Brinkley was about 270 when he left here. Big dude to move like that. What a beast on the inside.

I've always thought Norwood as the guy that redefined the LB/DE combo position.

He has a better frame and is more athletic than Norwood. If he has half the motor Norwood had he is going to be a great one.

Technically that's the correct way to define it when a kid is committed to one school, but takes an OV to another. This is true for Shaq Davidson.

Yeah, Walton should see extensive playing time at Mike next year, he is going to be a beast in the middle. Bryant playing time should increase a good bit too at Spur.

Big fan of Walton and Bryant. Bryant started to make some impressive plays on ST toward the end of the year. Didn't look or hit like a freshman. Our LB crew is going to be close to the top of the SEC the next couple years with this group.
