So our prized recruit who everyone said is lthe least to waver is now saying another school gave him something to think about? So is he still our #1 recruiter outside of our coaches? What's he saying to the kids he was supposedly recruiting to come w/him to Carolina? We do a good job of securing solid players early on in the process, but our recruitment of top flight game changers that almost always come down to signing day, we are failing. Back to back to back 11 win seasons & our recruiting is actually falling off pace compared to '07-'10. We're getting solid players, but no game changers. We can't close as a staff in recruiting, there is a trend. While other top flight SEC programs roll out the red carpet, it seems as though we roll out the green shag carpet. Once again, we will have a disappointing close to the recruiting season, while getting solid players, we will not close w/top prospects who we were in with, & even more disturbing, we will lose out on guys we were clear favorites with for long periods of time. Say what you want, but we need a major revamp of our recruiting tactics when it comes to kids who are highly coveted.

This was said last year before NSD & we ended up with an awesome class. Can you at least wait to see who we sign before pressing the "red alert" button? Every year like clockwork...facepalm

call me when we start going 6-6 and I'll agree with you guys....but it would be helpful if we raised more money to enhance our recruiting budget and continue to improve our facilities.

He said: " I'm still solid to South Carolina."

Yeah I'm not too worried about BAW, and if we can manage to close with Lammons and Green I will be happy.

For all of you who don't like how the staff handles recruiting it might be best to cheer elsewhere. I love how we are winning 11 games a year with 'inferior' talent. Maybe our coaches are good at scouting both talent and the quality of the individual. Our players perform on the field and we have very few off-field issues.

If you want to win signing day go cheer for Ole Miss and enjoy winning 7-8 games a year. I'm going to continue enjoying the ride without game changers - just guys like Mike Davis, Shaq Roland, Skai Moore, AJ Cann, guys like that.

I hate saying what I said in my post, but I'm an avid Cock fan/college football fan. I just see a trend I don't like. Our recruiting should be on par w/our program, but it's not. I think we do a solid job recruiting, but not a stellar job. I think we hit cruise control at times in our recruiting, get stale, complacent because of our success on the field, & that's not what I see from other elite programs. And I do think we are elite over the last 3 yr's, but we're not keeping pace w/other SEC programs when it seems like if we put as much emphasis on recruiting as we do in developing our program/players we could achieve championships..

I think we'll be fine with BAW obviously, but I do agree with what one poster said about increasing the recruiting budget. I believe we are near the bottom of the barrel in terms of SEC recruiting spending

That's my point b381l, take advantage of your succes, use it, don't get complacent. Instead, try & take the next step, & I don't mean the Clempson way, far from it. Stay true to who we are, honest, straight forward, build relationships, do it the right way. But at the same time, put all the $, resources, effort, time, energy into recruiting like all other phases. I'm not sure that can be said right now. I spend as much time informing myself of where these 16-18 yr old kids will play their college ball as anyone, & I see a difference in our staff than others. I don't wanna see a DatBoy approach, but I do think we could put more effort, resources, ingenuity into or recruiting.

True. I have seen the "trophy room" & it gives you chills. BAW is human & if JD Clowney was impressed by Bama, who in their right mind wouldn't be. Regardless, BAW will wear the G&B.

We work.as.hard as any program in the country. We don't have one HUGE piece of the puzzle, yet...a SEC Championship & crystal ball. I am not saying you are ill informed, but the staff has proven- they are damn good....if #4 is good in the country is good.

Reddit's College Football subreddit had a Q&A session with a national recruiting analyst today and BAW was brought up by myself, several UGA fans and a few Bama fans.

The guy said that he had heard of absolutely no reason to believe BAW flips. He said UGA was 100% out of the picture and that Bama is the only team that could have possibly flipped him, but that flip was not gonna happen. He also went on to say he was very confident predicting BAW to sign with us

Complacent, where have you seen any complacency. SOS is probably old school when it comes to recruiting. But it's worked for him for a long time, so I doubt that changes much. I can say that no coaching staff out works our staff with the exception of SOS. As far as the money is concerned, I don't understand why more people aren't willing to step up to the plate for the program especially since they've seen how much better things are now than they've ever been. I do know the development group at Carolina has done an unbelievable job the last decade, and over the past 5 years, each year has been greater than the year before. Certainly the Anderson and Rice families have really stepped up over the last few years. We need those folks, but we need everyone to take ownership of our athletic program. To me, that's where there's complacency.
