![]() Another variable that you could add in there would be to look at some other big recruits that we missed on, then subtract points according to who their primary recruiter was.

![]() probably should get some credit for getting kids to visit.....and is the territory new to them (like Botkin) that is not as familiar with all the high school coaches in the area. There are just too many variables. A lot of times 2 and even 3 coaches will visit a recruit.

As a percentage, more 5* make it than 4*....more 4* than 3*.......again these are all percentages. In actual numbers, more 2 + 3 stars make it than 4 + 5 stars just because there are so many more of them. |

![]() There are "offers."
Then, there are "commitable offers." When I see a kid with early offers from every school in the Top Ten, I think: "this kid might be special." When I see Saban, Spurrier and Richt doing in home visits the last week before NSD, I say " this kid is PROBABLY special (BAW) |

![]() Quote:
1. Over that same five year span we averaged 19th. 2. No team that won had a class higher than 22nd, our 2010 class was 34th and anchors this past season and the one coming up. 3. So we have enough talent to win, but the margin of error is lower than teams that consistently reach the top 10 per the study. Keep in mind, Scout did this to tout their ranking system but it can be pretty skewed. In other words, good results don't necessarily mean good records. For instance, over that same stretch Notre Dame averaged 13th but had a record of 43-21 with three seasons under 9 wins. Throw on top of this the fact that Scout changes peoples ranks based on if certain teams land them, and it changes the complexion. So I think it is wrong to say they don't matter, but its just as wrong to say they automatically equal success.

![]() Just watched this guys highlight video. For a junior, he has a strong arm and is fairly accurate. Really hope we can reel this guy in. Would be a major get out of NJ.

![]() There are a ton of offers yet to be made, so I don't see the value in this at this point in time. Maybe 6 months from now it might have value. But the players are already ranked by various services, all this will do is create the same result. The best players always have the most offers from top 25 schools. Another thing, most offers are regional. I doubt we've offered many players west of Texas. Only the schools with the biggest recruiting budgets will offer kids from all over the country.

![]() I wonder Texas' and Southern Cal's ratings were for the same period. Recruiting success does not guarantee on the field success. What bothers me about the rankings is that they raise or drop a player depending on who he commits to. What's even more troubling is that they do this during a period when no games are played, no combines are held and no all-star games played. The only thing that rankings show, in my opinion, is a snapshot in time. How this player looks at this moment. It does not measure heart, desire and room for improvement. A lot of the players that are highly ranked come from the "football factory" schools and many of them have attained a higher level of proficiency than some from schools without the resources. That being said, I'd rather have a class of 5&4 stars because your room for error is greater.

![]() From the start Scout has us going back and forth between 38/35 then all of a sudden we went up but still very short of all other recruiting sites.

![]() Lonnie, thanks for the work put into this. Your formula is not perfect and you're doing this voluntarily so I'm not sure why people complain about that.
Anyways, it's an interesting topic. I think based on your results, the 247 rankings, and our play on the field..... it's apparent to me that Robinson needs to step up, or get out! JD |

![]() tOSU would take a commitment from Lorenzo Nunez or Brandon Wimbush (whichever committed first) in addition to Torrance Gibson who is their #1 target. They are looking to take 2 QBs in this class.

![]() Does Scout not have a Gamecock outlet? I would think that this plays a roll in how our recruits are ranked by them. There are Gamecock writers for 247 and Rivals who contribute to their rankings.

![]() What if a player commits (a real commitment) and let's it be known to other schools...wouldn't they be less likely to extend an offer?
