Much of what needs to be said has been said, but...............

You already have the ACC ready to select the teams that play for their championship instead of letting the true divisional leaders play for it. Why?
Besides usually having poor crowds and the big names not always playing, they are trying to stack the deck to get at least one team in the final four playoff, annually. Could you have imagined if Duke beat FSU last year?

Now they want to beef up their schedule using the SEC. Besides their being able to use tie in as another recruiting ploy...."only our best teams will play for the ACC Championship and you get to play ND some years (not a ACC football member), but you will get to play a SEC team yearly", this is a no win scenario for the SEC. As always, we are suppose to win. If we lose, then you'll hear that the SEC is not so good, after all...more recruiting benefit. What few recruits know or ACC fans admit, is often the ACC will go weeks before a truly tough game. Duke, UVA, BC, WF, GT, NCSU and others do not constitute a rough stretch for them, so by the time they play a SEC team, we will have faced a tougher road, by far. Essentially, they often have an advantage of wear and tear.

Yes, we should win against ACC teams, but we need to have at least two breathers a year. By SEC standards, the ACC is a breather, but I mean we need the kind we win by showing up. Against the ACC, you have to ward off their best shot as they will always be jacked, while many SEC teams will often not have the same excitement in return.

As for us, we already play Clempson. That is plenty. If we are unfortunate enough to play one in a bowl game, well, we can't avoid a ho hum opponent.

The ACC is poorly run, the less contact we have with those clowns, the better. They are still afraid to stand up to UNC over the worst student-athlete scam in history. Let them play with themselves. Literally.

Don't see a benefit for us. Better to let them stay playing their ACC schedule as is.

I totally agree with you. Many of the SEC teams that have an ACC rival agree with you also. I don't see us, UGA, UF, or UK agreeing that the conference should form some kind of alliance with the ACC. A better fit for the SEC is the Big 12.

The reasoning of HOW AN SEC-BIG XII SCHEDULING ALLIANCE COULD DOOM THE ACC is very persuasive as to why we need to bury the ACC.

Quote:
Meanwhile, the ACC is working feverishly to protect itself from further raids. You can be certain John Swofford is putting in more calls to Bowlsby than vice versa. But if you’re the SEC or Big XII, why throw his conference a life vest? Especially if the Big XII has its eyes on Florida State and Notre Dame (it does) and if the SEC has been wooing North Carolina and Duke for years (an ACC source told The Sporting News that it has).

Our SEC sources have told us since the addition of Missouri and Texas A&M that the league does not want to expand further. But if the league feels it must expand further, well, that change things. If the Big XII feels it must grow, too, then that’s two leagues with one goal. Might they work in concert — and we’re talking about more than a scheduling alliance here — to topple a rival conference and then pick its bones clean?

I don't have a problem with playing teams in the ACC, but we need to get the larger share of pot. There's no way I agree with a 50-50 split except FSU. Once the SEC goes to a 9 game conference schedule, that will all but eliminate any games between the SEC and ACC except our game with the taters or other rivalry games.

I'm afraid a certain school, "done smoked it," so we won't be getting any of the pot.

You consider Ok State and ND heavyweights? That must be why the ACC thinks so highly of themselves. Those 2 teams are upper middle class at best. OK state can't play physical football which is why they run an extreme spread and count on turnovers on defense, and ND is ALWAYS overrated.

Forgive me if you are not a clemson fan but that resembles tater logic quite a bit.

UNC as the opener, Clemson as the closer. Not a bad idea.

Screw UNC. If we want to play a school known for cheating, let's just play SMU.

Tater logic or not, OK ST in not a sure win, and yes ND is often overrated; but beat them and that overrating works in your favor.
