US is actually changing their speedskating suits for the rest of the Olympics.

I'm still wondering who came up with the Idea that the U.S. Olympic team needed to win a Gold medal for the ugly sweater competition.

The exact same thing happened in 2006. . . . . with Nike suits. Seems like the problem is with the testing of new suits or at least it has been in 2 of the last 3 Olympics.

If the Olympic athletes still competed in the nude, we wouldn't have these issues.

From this article for the "Nike is better" crowd:

"In 2006, U.S. skaters ditched the newest Nike suits provided to them and wore older versions for the Olympics."

There was also a paragraph that said the team loved the suits so much when they got them that they held off wearing them at the world championships so nobody would be ready for their "secret weapon." Sounds like excuses to me.

Can't say I am surprised. Not the first time that UA has gone forward with a large uniform project that didn't get the testing it deserved.

Maybe its because our speed skaters were outdone by the Dutch and many others...

This is like in golf, blaming the equipment...its not the golfer or their swing, it must be the equipment...

This is non-sense and wont do anything for competitors of UA.

That's true. Perhaps not nude...but if it's to be a purely athletic competition, at least put everyone in the same gear/apparel.

It isn't the suits, it's the athletes. Been watching the USA skaters, like Davis, and they just look like they are being out skated and tired. Everyone in the sport was praising the UA uniforms at the start of the games.

You can say all that but I coach football and UA is loved by all the kids. More HS kids wear UA stuff than Nike. I'd guess 75% of cleats worn are UA cleats. Not sure about other sports but football is their main area and that's where their gear is loved by athletes, still.

If the athletes only had the product for a few days before the competition, it sounds like they might have rushed it. Bean Counter to Engineering Department: "Oh, crap! The Olympics start next week. Get that sh*t finished!"
