It's still early in the evaluation process for these guys. This summer a lot will change. It could end up being a good year for SC recruits. It's still up in the air.

Can we open back up the Michael Barnett thread? Why are we not hotter on him?

It wasn't too long ago many on here were claiming that 2015 was going to be loaded with talent. At first, this was true, but then players started to drop in the rankings. It also seems like were going to struggle to land some of the top prospects.

Huggins - UGA
Sutton - Clemson Lean
Williams - UGA Lean
Barnett - I think he will eventually recommit to VT
Bailey - Oregon
Clemons - LSU

Whether or not they dropped in the rankings doesn't mean anything to how good they are. Did your opinion of Shaq Davidson really change that much when Rivals inexplicably dropped him to a 3*? Also, Sutton wasn't a high priority, we have been going after Pittman, DeBerry, and Smith all before Sutton. We don't seem to be very interested, which is a similar situation with Clemmons. I see no reason other than pessimism to believe Barnett will go back to VT. He opened it back up right after Bama offered. Once the big boys stated coming after him it was a different ball game. We aren't Bama, but we are an SEC team in his home state that is certainly better than VT. I also think Williams Huggins and Baileys recruitment are far from over. Those could go any number of ways. It really isn't time to be panicking yet.

You're taking things out of context. Never said I was panicking. The post I made was a simple observation.

Top recruits are committing earlier in the process than ever before though. Now its all about securing a spot and only then weighing their other options. I agree its a little early to be too uneasy but some concern is warranted. It would be nice to see our overall recruiting strategy be a little more aggressive in my opinion.

There is no problem with his "frame." That term is wrongly used in sports a lot.

I will reword myself then.

I am not sure he has the body type to eventually grow in to a 250-260 pound DE but he is someone you take and try to grow because of his natural ability. He is a rail thin 6'6 200lbs right now. Saying that, he is just a kid and his body is not done developing by any means so with a college S&C program, he may have no trouble adding good weight to his body. He also may be able to be effective around 235 as a pass rusher because of his God given talent. However, if he is to eventually be an every down DE in the SEC - he will have to add some mass to his body. Darrius English was 218 on his OV as a senior in HS, he is just now getting close to 240lbs and they are very similar in build. English is in his 3rd year in our S&C program and entered the 2013 season at a playing weight of 226, which is +8lbs in 2 years at USC. I think the kid has a special talent as a pass rusher right now but he will have to work very hard on his nutrition and in the weight room in college if he is going to take his game from elite HS player to elite SEC player. Aside from Vic Beasley, the top pass rushers in the country were 250+.

Need to look hard at Ty'Shon Williams at Crestwood. Watched him play vs BC in 1st round of playoffs 2013. Kid only played a quarter (3rd) and ran for 127 yards and a TD. He's big and strong but rarely runs people over. Immensely good at many skills making him elusive. I'll be watching this young man.

He can be 290 lbs if he wants to be. If he does the right things. Nutrition and lift heavy

Ummm...it's not necessarily easy to go from 200 to 290, with most of that weight comprised of muscle, and still maintain any sense of speed or flexibility.

Devin Taylor was able to do it, but not everyone can.

Never said it was easy, but anyone can.

Realistically and ideally he can get up to hopefully 235-40 by the start of his redshirt freshman or true Sophmore season adding mainly muscle

ETG is 100% right. This kid is very very similar to English. He is a nice talent but he will have to develop and I really doubt he will make any type of instant impact.

Nah man not everyone can. Yeah if you want to get on PEDS than yeah but not everyone cannot just gain that type of muscle mass naturally. No way.
