This simply comes down to the complexity of SOS's 30 year old college playbook vs Chad Morris' 20 year old high school playbook.

Just Curious why you guys are pointing out what Clemsux does wrong! I mean don't we want them to keep sucking? Or we can tell them what they do wrong so they have a better chance at beating us. In case you guys didn't notice they were closer to getting us this year as it is.

Just goes to show you how different the coaching is between the rival schools. Sammy got his numbers on pure athleticism. He's now understanding that he can actually take another huge step up to another level, which is great for him. Can you imagine his disillusionment once he got around skilled experts in the conditioning and WR department. ie, Bruce? Just like Nuk, I'm looking forward to watching this kid at the next level.

Connor Shaw's experience with NFL prep strength training seems similar:

http://www.thestate.com/2014/02/15/3...rse-preps.html

I thought it was a pretty classy comment for Watkins to make, and I don't think it is fair to turn that into a slam against his school.

Personally, I wish him luck at the next level. It just makes SC's success against him defensively look even more impressive.

It's not surprising to me that a complimentary comment from one player about another would be used as an opportunity by some posters here to slam Clemson. Lost in the gloating and speculation is the personal side of the story and the selfless attitude of one of our terrific players willing to help a guy he's technically competing against.

So what Sammy's saying is he needed a basketball player to teach him how to run routes so he can become a WR.

Yeah, Bruce is a good football player. But he came to USC as a basketball player who wanted to walk on and play football. Crazy that a guy like Bruce is helping a 5 star WR becoming better at a position he excelled at in high school and college.

That's true. I'm just not taking anything away from Watkins. I think he's a great WR, and he'll have a good NFL career.

Definitely dude. He's got all the talent and the skills. Now he just needs to be around guys who can teach him what he needs to know to reach the next level.

Well all I can say is Clemson's coaching has produced two first round WR in the past two years. So we must be doing something right. And dont try to tell me Sammy would have been a first round pick or Nuk would have been a first round pick regardless. If they arent put in the right opportunities by their coaches to make those plays the nfl doesnt see them and they dont get drafted.

Both Watkins and Nuk have talent. There is no doubt about that. The offenses they were put in showcased that talent. It allowed both of them to thrive in that offense playing in the ACC. However, it didn't necessarily make them better players just because they were drafted in the first round. There are MANY guys who were first round picks and even #1 picks that were complete and total busts.

Just because they had first round talent that they showcased in college doesn't mean they are NFL ready at their position. Will Watkins succeed in the NFL? Probably but it doesn't mean he is going into the NFL polished and ready as a WR because of his time at Clemson or just because he is a first round pick.

The coaches didn't produce that.
Calling a screen pass to the fast guy on the field ain't hard to draw up.

Clemson coaches have inherited top talent, yet done nothing with it.

And Watkins would have been a first round pick simply on his measurables.
