Good read. Clowney is a hell of an athlete but there certainly is room for improvement. This article definitely helps sort out his strengths and weaknesses. Scary to think how much he can improve!

I didn't love the idea this guy is pushing that Clowney came here for 3 years and received essentially zero coaching. But if he does have that many technique issues, watch out if someone gets them solved. The Texans D would be unbelievable with him opposite of Watt.

I think losing Lawing hurt Clowney this year. Clowney seemed to inprove on his technique between his freshman and sophomore year but slipped back into bad habits this past year. Either way I would love to see the Texans draft him so he could play next to Watts.

One question for all the critics did none of them see the year that kelcy Quarles had? His results prove that defenses doubled and ran away from clowney. The defensive strategy of lawing and deke don't allow for direct stat comparisons either. Clowney is just two good of a player to pass on Imo

Clowney is the smart pick. None of the QBs are a Luck type talent, sure thing. Get Clowney and have a sick D, like the Seahawks, and find a QB to manage the game. It's much easier to get a solid QB than it is to get a Clowney and Watt combo.

Not going to lie, I read that and noticed a great deal of constructive criticism regarding the coaching he has received or the way he took that coaching. Maybe it is just that one guys opinion.

Raymond Berry came up with notion that there were about 18 different ways to catch the ball in a game situation and he practiced these over and over in his spare time throughout his career. Raymond Berry was not a physical talent but he was an excellent receiver bc he made himself into one. If the casual fan can watch Clowney and think this is a hell of an athlete but he needs to expand his pass rushing repertoir you can bet the coaches were thinking that too. If you want to be great you will put in the work plain and simple. Clowney hasn't even come close to reaching his potential. When he does that he will truly be one of the greatest to play the game.

Sounds like we need to hire this guy as our DL coach. He seems to know way more than Deke.

I don't think losing Lawing hurt. Clowney at times played not to get hurt. Offenses mad it easier by running away from him. As for coaching, both Lawing and Deke said Clowney basically did what he wanted to. I don't think it was a lack of coaching but a lack of listening.
