Well, most of our guys said that it was no big deal because we landed Smith. It's one of the bigger screw-ups of recent memory.

OK...what is your point exactly? We have taken several receivers and made them pretty good with our coaching. Gurley, Alshon, Ace, Bruce, Byrd is improving, and those are just some of the bigger names. All got better with us over time. His results here do not mean he would have done better in those other places. If we weren't turning out quality receivers maybe, but we are. Besides, if he is academically ineligible then it isn't just about the football field.

I wouldn't call it a screw up. We told the guys we were taking 3 WR's, Davis was in our Top 4, but the last one to commit. Kwinton was actually the higher rated WR. Also, Kwinton's problem wasn't a lack of talent, apparently it was grades. The team is tight on #'s right now and WR is the position where we can afford the most attrition. It's a win/win. Smith can go somewhere and be successful and our numbers get closer to the limit. Plus, unc's WR corp isn't nearly as good as ours and hasn't been for the past couple years, so Davis benefited from less competition to get on the field earlier.

I'm assuming here, but I took that as it's a shame that a guy that had the talent to go anywhere, and chose us, couldn't keep his grades up.

To loosely quote the old ball coach, he may be back he may not be back....we have simple rules to follow. K Smith elected not to follow those rules. This is on him and not his school of choice. Hope he can meet the rules of his new school.
