If you have more athletes than the other team it is a good strategy to run a lot of plays and wear out the opposing D. Same with an opposing D that may have a very good starting 11 but their talent level drops off quick after that.
USC has more good athletes than most teams in the country. Getting tired is not a big deal to USCs D. Ward often talks about rotating players.
