Yeah the NCAA sucks, but I'm kind of sick of hearing about it. I don't really care anymore.

WTF is he trying to sell? Nobody is buying it, whatever it is.
Well he does have a bit of a point. Those spots could go to someone who is actually qualified to be there and not someone who is admitted on a curve. But you also have to consider that universities only admit a certain number of students each year and those athletes take up those spots.

I understand they have "limits" of enrollment but it's not a hard limit like a bus or train would have. They can and often increase an incoming class by as much as 20-50 students (no link but I have read that before)or more. The point is that they get paid for that athlete's matriculation.

Some schollies are partial, meaning they get 25% or 50% off the value of a full ride and therefore have to make up the difference themselves. The school is getting revenue from these scholarships so money is equal regardless of whether they are student/athletes or simply students.

And some of that money that the athletic department uses to pay for those scholarships comes from the general student body as well. You have to also consider that only a fraction of Athletic Departments are in the black so for most schools, even offering athletics is a net loss on their finances. Obviously we don't have to worry about that at USC (Doesn't hurt that the entire student body outside of the athletes are charged an "Athletics fee"), but we are one of the very very very few exceptions to the rule.
