Default Re: Connor Shaw: Atlanta, Cleveland, Tenn, NE?

I tracked it down myself. Here it is:

http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/...wns-today.html

I'd be thrilled to see Connor drafted in the 2nd or 3rd round. That's in the "we're drafting you to be our quarterback of the future" range.

I'm thinking 3rd round or better is still unlikely, but if the sources mentioned in the article are accurate, it would surely make a 4th or 5th round selection likelier than a fringe 6th or 7th round selection. That's exciting enough.

If they are almost even, why is Johnny a first round talent and Shaw isn't. You don't get drafted in the first round because you're freakish. He had a great pro day. I think that sealed the deal for him being taken in the first round. If Manziel can't throw from the pocket in the NFL, he'll never last.

Having thought about Connor and the draft a good bit, I now hope he doesn't get drafted. That way he can go to the team that he's most likely going to make it with.

That might be preferable to a 7th round selection, but there's no way it's preferable to, let's say, a 5th round or better selection. Players drafted that high are given every chance to succeed because the organization has already invested something of great value in them...a relatively premium draft pick. In a dead heat competition between a 5th rounder and a free agent, the 5th rounder has the edge.

Multiple NFL teams have assigned a third-round grade to Shaw and one NFC West club has him graded as a second-rounder, according to sources ... He quarterbacked the highest-ranked team of all of the draft-eligible quarterbacks for the fourth-ranked Gamecocks.
Thanks Kazak. Love it!

I understand that many of you hate New England, but I honestly can't imagine a more perfect landing spot. Brady will be 37 this coming season, Mallet will be a free agent after the season, and Belichick will LOVE...absolutely LOVE... Connor's mindset and intangibles.

I watched the "Brady 6" documentary recently, about the 6 obscure quarterbacks selected ahead of Brady the year he was drafted in the 6th round. Aside from height, Brady didn't have the measureables the NFL was looking for. His arm was considered sub-par. He was skinny. He ran the slowest 40 a QB has ever run at the combine (that "record" still stands). But as one personnel man says in the documentary, "You can't measure heart."

Connor Shaw has a heart that matches Brady's. Belichick is savvy enough to see that and believe in it. New England = Perfect Fit.

Thanks for the link. Don't you just love the consistency, he lost 4 lbs after 2 lines in the article. Can you imagine how much he weight he lost by the end of the article.
